Asheville, NC - Day 2, Part 2

We ventured upstairs to the second floor to see all of the beautiful bedrooms. The staircases were beautiful too...

We entered the second floor living hall - which is also a picture gallery. An artist visited Biltmore in 1895 to paint portraits of architect Richard Morris Hunt and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. You know you are extremely happy with your house and property when you hang portraits of the architects on your wall. ;) ...

More costumes...

This is a family portrait of the Cecil family (descendants of the Vanderbilt family and current owners of the property)...

Mr. Vanderbilt's bedroom was amazing...

The Oak Sitting room joins the Mr. and Mrs. bedrooms...

Edith Vanderbilt's bedroom was also amazing...

We went up another flight of stairs to the third floor and looked at some of the guest rooms.

Third floor living hall...

Quaint third floor guest rooms...

We walked back down the stairs to where the fancier guest rooms are located.

Artwork in the Louis XV hallway...

The guest rooms on the second floor are magnificent.

This is the Damask room...

The Claude room...

The Tyrolean Chimney room...

My favorite guest room - the Louis XV room (this is the room where Cornelia Vanderbilt was born - the only child of George and Edith - and where Edith stayed as she recuperated)...

Yes - it is a bathroom! Very rare in 1895!

This is another good place to stop. I will talk next about the basement in the Biltmore. It is also huge!
