Briana is currently 3.5 weeks into school, and boy do I wish we were back in Jekyll Island on vacation. 7th grade is no joke. Briana isn't focusing very well right now in school and she's letting things fall through the cracks school-wise. Hoping she can pull herself together somehow - and quickly. Enough talk about that.
Let me reminisce about our July 4th week of sun, water and sand instead.
After our week of sickness in February over winter break, we really needed a vacation to go well. Luckily, no one got sick and we really enjoyed ourselves. Our main focus was to relax and not plan too much to do. Often when we go on vacation, we go, go, go. Then we need a vacation from our vacation. This time, we wanted to go home refreshed.
We got up early Sunday morning on July 1st and headed down the road to Jekyll Island. We were shocked at how good the traffic was that day. And the weather was perfect...
Briana watched one movie on the way there, but otherwise, she wanted to read (which she did a LOT of on the trip)...
After several hours of driving, we finally arrived at our destination...
After several hours of driving, we finally arrived at our destination...
We stayed at the Westin...
A sneak peek of the pool...
We had a nice suite. Bri got the pull out couch once again...
Comfy bedroom...
A beautiful view of the beach...
As we got settled, Miss B started reading again...
We got settled in and started getting hungry for dinner. We took the hotel shuttle to a restaurant called "The Wharf" and it was right on the water...
A little history on the area...
Our view from the table...
Appetizers - yum...
My crab cakes...
Doug's seafood tacos...
Bri enjoying some cheesecake...
Messy hair, don't care...
The band who performed that night was called "Backbeat Boulevard." They played all sorts of "yacht rock" and they were really great (we listened to them for quite a while)...
Listen for just a minute - they were really good...
The sun was starting to set - so pretty...
A pic of my pretty gal...
It was a great way to start off our vacation. My next post will be about Day 2 (we had a beach day).
