We got on the bus from the sky lift and headed to Dunn's River Falls. When I looked up the excursions online, the sky lift and the river falls said they were "family friendly." I assumed the we would just be lazily splashing around the falls at our own pace.
Nooooope....
We actually had to climb the waterfall. I didn't realize that. And it wasn't really all that easy - especially with little ones. I was a bit worried the little girls might have a difficult time with it. The rocks were slippery and the whole group had to walk hand in hand to get up the falls. Let me just say the littles were total rock stars and loved this excursion despite the adventure.
Here is the entrance...
One of our guides...
We were able to put our things in a locker and then the guide took us to the beach where the falls started...
Bottom of the falls...
The girls ready to climb...
Briana loving every second of it...
I felt myself slipping at times and Briana was behind me, so I was making sure she was able to keep up. I did bust it once (I could feel my feet slipping) and fell on my shins on a slippery rock. I had a few nice bruises that appeared the next day.
The guide made each group stop for a photo opp - YA MON!!!!
The water was really refreshing...
There was a point about three quarters of the way up that you could exit the falls if it was getting to be too much. I looked at the rest of the way up and it looked pretty rocky. Again, I was worried about the little ones. I asked Briana what she wanted to do and she begged to finish the climb. We went for it and she had no issues at all. Actually, that leg of the trip was a bit easier than what came before it. We finally reached the end...
It was quite an accomplishment I would say. We climbed a freakin' waterfall! How cool is that? And it bought an "Aqua Lock" waterproof case for my iPhone so I could take pictures. There were times I was submerged in water and the case worked like a charm.
It was time to get back to the ship. We got changed and grabbed a fruity drink...
That evening, it was back to the dining room. On this night, there was some entertainment provided by the wait staff (including our waiters Song and Jasmin)...
After dinner, the girls were surprisingly not tired and asked to go to Camp Carnival. Elene (Kathy's exchange student) went to the teen Camp Carnival. So we dropped everyone off - the guys went off and did their thing, and Kathy and I went to one of the quiet decks, sat in lounge chairs, talking and looking at the stars. A great end to a great day.
Doug picked Briana up from Camp Carnival and got back to the room first. And when I got back to the room, this was waiting for Briana...
And Briana was waiting for me looking like this...
Another successful night at Camp Carnival!
It was time for shut eye because the next day was our Grand Cayman adventure.
To be continued...
