We got all cleaned up after visiting Daufuskie Island and took the ferry back over to River Street...
The clouds were starting to billow and it was very pretty. But we had a feeling it was going to rain very soon...
We crossed the river and exited the ferry. As we were on the ferry ramp, we looked up and saw this...
There was a beautiful rainbow right over our hotel...
A rainbow has always been a sign that my grandparents are watching over me. Hopefully they were telling me to enjoy my vacation. :)
Briana kept begging for us to take her to the River Street Sweets Candy Store. She still remembers it from 3 years ago. She remembered that they made taffy...
My downfall ~ the pralines. They are sinfully good...
We were so lucky because when we arrived, someone was making taffy...
It is really amazing how the machine wraps the taffy so easily...
The best part ~ getting a free piece of warm taffy (that day it was orange flavored)...
I enjoyed watching one of the employees making warm glazed pecans. We got a free taste of those too. Scrumptious...

Yep ~ I got me a few of those pralines...
After we bought the pralines and a few other things, we looked outside and it was raining. We knew it was coming! Since we had appetizers while we were waiting for our room to be cleaned, we weren't really hungry for dinner. But, I did know I was craving some hot beignets from Huey's on the River. We rain quickly in the rain over to Huey's (it was close). Huey's was packed (because it was dinnertime) and the bar was full because people were trying to avoid the rain. We went up to the bar to see if we could get some beignets to go. Unbelievably, we got them ordered and 10 minutes later we were holding a bag of hot beignets. We couldn't eat at Huey's though - it was just too crowded and loud.
Doug remembered seeing a quaint little coffee shop down the way a bit and he wanted some coffee anyway, so we ran over (in the rain) to Vic's Coffee House. It was empty in there and it was a perfect place to rest and eat some dessert...
Yes, they were as good as they looked...
My hair was so frizzy after running in the rain. Good gracious. Of course that is when Bri started taking pictures of all of us with my phone...
And Bri's hair never frizzes ~ I'm so jealous.
Sitting there in the coffee house, watching the rain through the door, eating dessert, being silly with my daughter and hubby ~ it was one of the best moments of the whole trip. Seriously.
We were so tired after a looong day. Time to head back to the hotel and get some sleep...
Our dream for the next day was to not have to get up as early as we did on Daufuskie Island day. We wanted to relax and not be pressured by time. But in reality, Bri wanted to go swimming the next morning and we had to get up early enough to actually get a few pool chairs (and with some luck, an umbrella too). It was going to be the day before the 4th after all - and it is super busy the day before the 4th.
Up next, pool and mani/pedi day...
