Doug researched several of the luaus in Maui and he decided to go with the one at the Hyatt Regency Resort called "Drums of the Pacific"...
Doug opted to go with VIP seating so we could sit up close, get seated quicker and eat much sooner. Totally worth it.
Parking was a bit tricky, but we went early and luckily found a great parking space and headed inside...
We had to take family photos of course (we were all gussied up for a luau!)...
They handed out beautiful flower leis. We were excited because we weren't given flower leis at the hotel...
We were given drinks upon arrival - Mai Tais for adults and juice for kids (there was a bar too for other drinks). And they explained how they roasted the pig.
Doug had to get a selfie with the roasted pig behind him...
Mai Tai...
I have to admit it was a bit warm when we first arrived. The sun was out and we weren't getting the ocean breeze where we were sitting unfortunately. We made the best of it though...
We were one of the first people called up for the buffet. I thought it was really delicious - especially the salads and the pork (and the purple roll at the top had poi in it)...
Bri wasn't too thrilled with the food unfortunately and she didn't want to eat at the kids' buffet. She was still kind of full from the huge burger she had at lunch too.
As we ate, the performers came out and did a few numbers...
Briana enjoying herself...
Right before the show started, children were asked to come onto the stage to learn how to hula. Briana was a "hard pass" on that one. I wish she had done it though!
Eventually, the sun started to set and the temperature cooled dramatically...
