NYC Trip 2024 - Day 2/Disney Store, Little Shop And Nobu 57

We all woke up on Sunday morning kind of early and I was pretty tired from my lack of sleep. Our brunch reservation wasn't until 11:30, so it luckily allowed me to move slowly.

Doug and Briana wanted to do something before heading to brunch, so I suggested they go to the Disney Store which was a block down the street. Bri was excited about that, so off they went. I just took it easy and slowly got myself dressed.

The Disney Store...

After doing a little shopping, Doug and Briana walked around Times Square and took pictures. It was a lot quieter that morning than the afternoon before...

They came back to the room and then we order an Uber to take us to 57th Street to get to Nobu to have Easter brunch.

I was nervous. Not going to lie. This brunch was pricey. I was worried if I could even eat, I deliberated on how I would feel after I ate, and I wondered if I could tackle going to an Easter brunch and then attend a two hour musical after not sleeping well the night before.

But I went for it.

We got to 57th Avenue...

Nobu 57...

It was so pretty inside...

What was great about this experience was that family style plates that first came out were all shareable. They came out one at a time, and they weren't very big. I didn't feel badly if I couldn't eat something or if I couldn't eat a lot of it. I could at least try it. Here was the menu for that morning...

The zensai and family style dishes...

I think I tried everything but the salad (if I am remembering correctly) and it was all beautiful and delicious. The shrimp tempura roll was probably my favorite.

Then the main dishes came out (and the dessert after that)...

I got the chicken donburi, Bri got the beef katsu sandwich and Doug got the snow crab benedict. Everything was amazing. I was so happy I could eat it and was enjoying it.

Once we were done, we grabbed another Uber and headed to the show...

Bri had been wanting to see Little Shop (which is off Broadway) forever. She read that Darren Criss (Glee) and Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) were doing a short run and that their last day was March 31st. She wanted to see them specifically in it, so we booked our trip to make sure that happened.

The theater was really small and we were front row - which was really cool. Theater staff said if anyone got up during the show though to leave to go to the bathroom, make a call, etc, we couldn't get back into the theater. Gosh - no pressure. Of course, the minute you tell me that I can't do something, I need to do it. Let's just say my bladder wasn't happy with me during the last two musical numbers before intermission. When the song ended, I jumped out of my seat and rushed to the restroom.

Despite my slight discomfort, the musical and cast were phenomenal. Darren Criss and Evan Rachel Wood were absolutely phenomenal. Doug said Darren Criss spit on him while he was singing - Ack! LOL! We were that close to the stage. It was so, so good...

It was Red Bucket Week, so at the end of all Broadway and off Broadway performances that week, the performers talked for a few minutes and asked for donations for Broadway Cares. And they offered cool swag to purchase as well to earn money. Doug bought Bri a Playbill with the whole casts' signatures on it (he got one from Hadestown too). They are now hanging on our basement wall...

While Doug was purchasing a Playbill, Briana realized she forgot her jacket on her seat. She asked someone who worked there if she could go back into the theater to get it. He let her in quickly and she grabbed it. On her way out, she took a picture of the stage...

So cool!!

The theater wasn't very far from our hotel, so we decided to walk back instead of getting a car. We passed by Six...

I was so proud of myself for doing all of that. We rested in the room a bit and decided to get some dinner from the restaurant downstairs (Doug picked it up and brought it back to the room). We were tired, but we really wanted to see NYC from up high and we had been monitoring the weather report which was saying it might start raining the next day (and it could last for several days). So we ventured out again that night (which I can't believe I did).

More on that next...
