Portland Maine ~ Day 1, Part 2

After lunch, we headed to the Portland Head Lighthouse and it was just beautiful...

The wind calmed a bit and it warmed up a bit too after lunch, which made viewing the lighthouse much more comfortable...

From the Portland Head Lighthouse, you can see the Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse...

An old shipwreck in the rocks...

It is believed that the Portland Head Lighthouse was the inspiration for Longfellow's poem "The Lighthouse"...

There was a museum inside, so we walked around and learned about the lighthouse...

After spending some time at Portland Head, we headed to one more lighthouse...

The Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse...

The lighthouse is adjacent to Southern Maine Community College, so we drove through the campus at bit to take a look.

The lighthouse sits at the end of a jetty...

Briana was a bit tired and didn't want to walk to the lighthouse. We had to do some convincing. We said that she could play Pokemon Go and look for some Pokemon as we walked...

She absolutely loved walking down the jetty once she got on it. And she found several new Pokemon which made her quite happy...

It was actually quite challenging getting to the lighthouse, but we did it...

She conquered the jetty and the Pokemon...

What is so funny is that this ended up being her favorite part of the trip. She didn't even want to do it. I thoroughly enjoyed rubbing in that she should listen to her parents much more often. ;)

We were so tired after traveling and all that sightseeing, we checked into the hotel and just ordered in  a pizza that night.
