Day 2, Part 4 - Vermont Vacation - Simon Pearce

When Doug mentioned he wanted to go to a glass/glassblowing store in Vermont, Simon Pearce was not what I had envisioned.

I imagined a small store with glass figurines - not a large store with glasses, dishes, votives, holiday decor, etc. All the glass pieces were thick and heavy - made very well. That is why it is so expensive in there - LOL!

Driving from the farm to the glass store...

A cute house I saw on the way to the store...

We arrived at the store and parked. The parking lot was located right next to a river...

Cute houses across the river...

I made Bri take a picture - heh...

Simon Pearce...

Such a pretty store...

After wandering around for a while and speaking with an employee who told us a bit of the history of Simon Pearce, we headed to the basement to see where the smaller pieces of glass are blown...

It was fascinating watching them work...

Some of Simon Pearce is fueled by hydropower, and we walked outside (behind the back of the store) to see that in action...

Hydropower...

We were getting quite hungry at that time and we wanted to try out the store restaurant. They were luckily able to squeeze our family of three in...

Doug ordered the Vermont Cheese soup and we all decided to split it for an appetizer. Honestly, one of the best soups I've ever had in my life...

The drinks were served in their beautiful glassware...

Bri ordered shepherds pie, I chose sesame chicken with a dipping sauce and Doug ordered gnocchi - it was all so delicious (and filling)...

After lunch, both Briana and I ended up purchasing small glass pieces (me - a glass Christmas tree and Bri - a small vase) before leaving the store.

It was a really cool experience!

We had just one more stop to make before we went back to the hotel for the evening...
