And Just Like That ~ She Turned 10

On August 5, 2016, my baby turned double digits. I don't know how it happened, but I blinked and she is 10.

Here is my sweet girl at age 9 ~ I wish she would "slow down" a bit...

The night before her birthday, as she slept, I did my annual tradition of putting balloons on the ceiling...

People sometimes wonder if she has ever woken up and got freaked out by it. Seriously, once Bri is asleep, she is asleep for the night. She doesn't wake up. A train could drive through the house and she wouldn't wake up.

Here she is all smiles with her balloons...

Daddy got her birthday roses...

She was excited to head to school in her birthday t-shirt. It was nice that her birthday landed on a Friday this year...

I went to B's school around noon and sat at lunch with Briana. I met her new friend Lana who is new to the school this year. She is so very sweet. I chatted with the girls for about a half an hour...

I dropped off sugar cookies for the kids to eat at recess. Bri said the kids all sang "Happy Birthday" to her. :)

That evening, Gramma and Papa came over to celebrate a bit more.

We went to Bri's favorite Chinese restaurant...

When they found out it was her birthday, they put a candle in the complimentary dessert...

Since Bri was having a cake at her party the next day, she said she wanted birthday brownies as her birthday dessert...

She was showered with gifts from aunts, uncles, Gramma and Papa and of course, Doug and me...

One of Bri's favorite gifts was this musical "Groot"...

She liked dancing with it...

It was quite an eventful day. Bri was full smiles throughout it. But when it got quiet that night, she got a bit emotional.

I told her that night that some very sad stuff happened to her and some sad stuff happened to me too. And I told her it is totally ok to feel sad. But because of our "broken roads," we ended up together. Together we are stronger, and we are making the best out of what life handed to us. I also reminded her that I'm not going anywhere.

The next morning, she woke up happy and ready to celebrate once again. It was party day! More on that in my next post...
