It took about 2 hours to get back to Chicago from St. Joseph and we checked into the Westin O'Hare Hotel...
We got settled in our room and discussed what we should do for dinner. We were in Chicago. Deep dish pizza of course! How could I not get some my first time in Chicago?
There was a restaurant right down the street from the hotel named Giordano's that served the deep dish pizza we were looking for...
We had to wait 45 minutes for the pizza but it was delicious...
It was delicious but super filling. We had to walk back to hotel with our stomachs filled with pepperoni and cheese...
I have to admit, though the pizza was yummy, it was very rich. I didn't feel so well after eating just one piece. I think I am more of a New York style pizza kind of gal.
Briana got tucked into bed - she had her own place to sleep once again...
I had a hard time sleeping that night. I was overtired and not feeling the best. I was ready to head home.
We awoke in the morning knowing it was supposed to start snowing again. We were glad to be heading back to Georgia...
We headed back home in 1st class once again...
It was actually quite chilly and rainy when we arrived back home on March 3. At least it wasn't snowing!
Briana was a such trooper the entire trip. Being an only kid, she doesn't have siblings to help keep her busy or help pass the time. She has to entertain herself at times. She did everything we asked of her (she only quietly complained to me once that she was a bit warm in the apartment, so I told her to step out into the hallway). She is such a great kid - really.
We are so glad we made the trip. We thought about trying to see Grandpa during Bri's spring break (which is this week), but Doug's uncle said he wasn't sure Grandpa could make it to spring break. And he ended up being so right about that. I'm glad we dropped everything to go when we did.
We have some really nice final memories of him.
1 Kind Words:
I always remember you saying that having friends over made your life so much easier...that it was never a chore! Too too true!
