Day 5 - Barbecue And A Fire Alarm

We had a pretty filling lunch and a very lazy afternoon, but it was evening time and we did need to eat something. We headed downstairs at the hotel and decided to eat at "District Smokehouse." We were SO glad we stopped there...

It has a super chill atmosphere right on the water...

We could watch the barges go by...

There was someone playing the guitar and singing...

I ordered a pork sandwich and Doug got brisket. I forgot to take a picture of his, but he said it was one of the most delicious briskets he has ever had. My shredded pork was amazing. Everything was top notch and delicious...

My meal...

You could tell Savannah was getting ready for July 4th celebrations in a few days...

We got done with dinner and sat looking at the water from our balcony again...

Around 10PM, I was already laying in bed. Doug was on his computer. And I heard a weird noise from outside our room (Doug didn't even notice it because we had the TV on). I could tell it was an alarm. A fire/smoke alarm. I peeked out of the room and I could see everyone else's heads popping out of their rooms too trying to figure out what was going on. Then the alarms started going off in the rooms.

SO LOUD.

They weren't stopping, so we knew it was time to leave.

I was already dressed for bed, so I quickly grabbed a sundress and threw that on. We grabbed a couple of things (phones, wallets, etc) but left everything else and started down six flights of stairs.

We got out of the Arcadia building and all the people that had been in the hotel were flooding to River Street or the parking lot.

Doug and I walked around to the front of the building and saw several fire trucks and lots of employees.

Fun times...

I saw a woman with a walkie talkie and asked her what was going on. She explained what had happened.

There's an event venue in the building. The band playing that evening had fog machines. Yep - that is what set off the alarm. Good times.

So...luckily D and I were standing right by the doors that led to the elevator and were able to go up right away when we got the all clear (just a few minutes). But, any relaxation that I had felt before the alarm went off was completely gone.

I am glad there wasn't a fire. I'm glad Briana was not with us. I'm glad it all worked out ok.

But I was wound up for a few hours after that.

I did get a pretty shot of the pool at night when we came back upstairs...

I really needed to get some sleep because the next day - we were going to see Briana.

Day 6 next...
