It was a beautiful, sunny day on July 4th in Savannah (and quite warm). Thank goodness for lots of shady areas and air conditioned shops on River Street.
We got all gussied up and headed over on the ferry to River Street...
Miss B in her patriotic outfit...
We hit a number of shops ~ but I think Bri's favorite was the honey store...
And she wanted to hit the candy store again...
Taffy making again!!!
And this is why all the candy is so amazingly delicious...
We walked out without buying any more candy (though we got a free sample of blueberry taffy)! Yay us! Not easy but not impossible either.
We had a reservation for lunch at Vic's On The River. We ate there 3 years ago and knew we had to return this visit...
From River Street, you have to go into Vic's Coffee Shop and go into an elevator to get to the restaurant upstairs...
I believe we were overlooking Bay Street...
Picture of Vic on the wall...
Miss B waiting for her meal...
She again decided to take pictures to keep busy...
Mommy/Bri selfie...
Appetizer ~ crawfish beignets. Amazingly delicious...
Lunch ~ bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato sandwich with goat cheese and tomato chutney. I'm still dreaming about it...
After lunch, we walked around a bit more on River Street...
Bri wanted a balloon animal so badly...
She actually picked out a flower...
It was getting pretty hot outside and we were ready to get back over to Hutchinson Island. Unless you are a guest at the Westin, I don't believe you are allowed on the island past a certain time on that day. It is really a perfect place to see the fireworks display.
When we got back to the hotel, the conference room next to the lobby had all sorts of fun activities set up for the kiddos...
We went up to the room to rest for a while but decided to come back down just to look around to see where a good place might be to sit to watch fireworks later...
Uh oh ~ clouds were starting to roll in...
We walked around for about 10 minutes and then the skies opened up. We got back into the lobby just in time. It was around 5PM...
Yeah ~ there was supposed to be an outside bbq (hot dogs and hamburgers) starting right about then...
It wasn't just rain. It was thunderstorming. Bri didn't like that at all (but I kind of did)
She hates thunderstorms. So it was time to snuggle with mama - hoping it would pass quickly...
It didn't pass quickly. It continued to rain - hard. We weren't sure if we would get to see fireworks at all that night. We hoped we would get to see something, but we were ok if we didn't see anything.
More on that in my next post...
