Back In September, my sister heard that the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra was going to perform John William's most famous scores (Star Wars and More: The Music Of John Williams). She asked if Doug and I would like to join her and my brother-in-law for a night out. My brother-in-law's birthday is in Sept, so it was a perfect birthday gift. I said yes immediately of course (Star Wars - are you kidding me?)!
I wasn't feeling super great, but I wasn't going to miss out on this wonderful night. Even though I was hurting a bit, I still had a great time.
We met my sis and BIL for a delicious dinner first at a restaurant called "Cru"...
The wine was delish...
The food was too. It was AMAZING. Goat cheese-filled beignets? Yes please!!!
Look at my chicken dish...
We then headed to the amphitheater...
My sister got us great seats...
Then it was showtime...
Michael Krajewski was the conductor for the evening...
The beginning of the concert. Star Wars theme...
Characters would come out during the Star Wars numbers...
Michael Krajewski talked about each song before playing it. Did you know that the NBC news theme was scored by John Williams? Neither did I...
If you have a couple of minutes, take a listen to these videos. The ASO was truly amazing that night. I took a million videos, but these are just a few of my faves...
Duel Of The Fates - Darth Maul Comes Out...
Duel Of The Fates - Darth Maul Comes Out...
Darth Vader's Theme - Darth Vader Comes Out Around 2:20...
Don't Go In The Water - Still One Of The Scariest Themes Ever...
Harry Potter...
Beginning Of ET...
End Of ET - Steven Spielberg's Favorite Theme By John Williams...
The Encore Was Indiana Jones...
All Of The Star Wars Characters...
What an amazing night! If they ever do this again, I'm bringing Bri next time. She would have really enjoyed it.
It is truly unbelievable how many recognizable scores that John Williams has written (Star Wars, Superman, Harry Potter, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schindler's List (I almost cried during that number), ET, and more. He's a genius - not much more I can say about that.
A huge thanks to my sister for inviting me and Doug to come along for such an entertaining night!
