Disney Report 2014 - Port Orleans Riverside

The last two times we stayed on the WDW property, we stayed at "deluxe" resort hotels." This time, we opted for a "moderate" resort hotel. We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. I loved it. I truly did. It may not have had monorail access or boat access to the parks, but we really didn't need it.

We left Sunday morning (Feb 16th) and drove down to Disney. I had set the alarm so we could get on the road early. The alarm never went off. Seriously. I had it set correctly and it never went off. I luckily woke up on my own about 45 minutes later than I expected. I'm grateful it wasn't a couple of hours later. Yikes.

Despite waking up late, we still got on the road at a reasonable time...

We made great time and got to Disney mid afternoon...

The hotel was very pretty...

The hotel is comprised of all these beautiful mansion-type buildings. Our room was in the building on the left...

We were originally put in a room right next to the pool. I know a lot of people like that kind of access, but I really don't. To me, there is too much noise. I like some quiet if I can get it. So we requested to be moved and the hotel gave us another room right away. We were very happy with the new room we ended up getting. Doug requested a "royal" room (LED lights were on the headboard)...

And the princesses adorned the walls...

Tiana is the main princess at this hotel...

We had a beautiful river view...

Once we got settled, we decided to take the hotel boat that goes over to Downtown Disney instead of driving (I had dinner reservations)...

We had plenty of time to head over before dinner...

And thank goodness we left early to head over and had a reservation. The boats were running super slow. It took an hour for us to get to Downtown Disney. The boats were "out of sync" or something like that and Downtown Disney was super crowded. It was President's Day weekend...

We got on the boat after a 45 minute wait. Once we were on the boat, the ride was really nice...

Our adventure in Downtown Disney will be my next post. It was pretty crazy - but I'll explain more later.

The Port Orleans Riverside has a nice "food court" area and we ate two dinners there when we got back from the parks early. We also ate there for breakfast on our last morning in Disney...

There was a pretty fountain near our room...

Doug threatening to throw Bri in...

The river was pretty at night...

Miss B marching with her princess wand to dinner...

We drove to the parks each day and opted not to take the buses. We hit the early "Magic Hour" for every park somehow. We are early birds, so that is what we did - went early each day. So, parking was not an issue for us at all.

The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. I highly recommend it. We would definitely stay there again. It was really lovely.

That looks like a nice hotel. We have only ever done a value resort (which was totally fine), but nice to get this perspective too.

We stayed at Riverside last year and really liked it. this year we opted for French Quarters, another Port Orleans. Loved both. You came in the day before we left.
