Our Autumn Moon Festival 2013

Briana went to school on Thursday and when she got home, I had some Autumn Moon Festival things planned.

She and I made our traditional mooncakes (cookies). You can see our past Autumn Moon festivities here.

She loved getting dough all over her hands. And Daddy got into the act...

Now for the filling...

Who needs cookies when you can eat the jelly out of the jar?

Our finished product - little moons!!!

Official taste tester (she ate 5 cookies that day!)...

Doug, Bri and I went to one of our favorite Asian restaurants for dinner. Bri had Chicken Lo Mein. After dinner, we stopped at the soccer field to get Bri's soccer picture taken (more on that later). We got back home and it was still light outside. Bri hopped in the shower and got her in her pj's before the moon came out. We could not see the large orange moon low in the sky through all the trees in our neighborhood, so we hopped in the car and drove down the street to see it. It was beautiful...

By the time we drove back home, the moon was higher in the sky and turning bright white. We could see it from our house now. We pulled out the lanterns and sat and looked at the moon...

It was a school night, so a little before 9PM, Bri was finally tucked into bed. I bought this book for her (I highly recommend it)...

The next day, we had dinner with the "B" family and I brought Autumn Moon Festival coloring sheets for Bri and her friend ML to color...

Unfortunately, we were not able to attend a "bigger" Autumn Moon Festival celebration this year. But, we still celebrated in our own way and it was really, really nice.
