Disney World 2023/Day 6/Hollywood Studios

This is one of the few smiles we got from Briana on Day 6 of our winter break vacation. She was feeling a bit off when she woke up but didn't mention it to us. It really wasn't bad enough to make a fuss about. She wasn't hungry when she woke up, but that isn't unusual for her. Things started going downhill as the morning wore on.

We got up bright and early again on Day 6. We were on the fence about purchasing Genie+ and individual lightning lane reservations for that day because we were not planning on being at HS all day. But, in order to get on Slinky Dog Dash and ride Rise again at a decent time, we felt we needed to do it. We had already been hemorrhaging money that week anyway.

So I got an ILL for Rise for around 1PM. Then I got Slinky Dog Dash for around 10AM. Briana wanted to ride Tower of Terror again, so we were going to early entry that one. We were set.

Off to HS we went (we drove again) - early entry...

I needed to use the restroom when we arrived and no one was in there yet. I wanted to capture the quiet before the storm - it was so clean in there that morning...

Doug tapped out of the Tower of Terror ride on Day 6 and Bri was good with going on there on her own. We decided to walk through the line with her and then ditch so we could wait for her when she got off the ride.

Still a happy Briana...

The capture from the ride (she is on the right)...

She was all smiles when she got off the ride and even wanted to grab a muffin at a cart that was nearby. She thought she might be hungry (her stomach felt off), but after eating just a couple bites of that muffin, it didn't agree with her.

As we started walking to our next ride, she mentioned she felt a bit icky and she didn't want to eat. I told her to put the muffin in her bag and keep me posted on how she was feeling.

We went toward Galaxy's Edge again because the standby line for Smuggler's Run was pretty good...

I could tell B wasn't feeling well (queasy), but we hoped the feeling would pass. Maybe it was just the muffin not agreeing with her. She didn't want to give up (even though we asked her/checked with her several times), so she got on Smuggler's Run...

Doug and Bri got to pilot again. B said when she was on the actual ride, she kind of forgot she wasn't feeling great and did enjoy it. But once she got off, it hit her again.

We found a place to sit in Galaxy's Edge and tried to see if she would feel better...

We walked through the droid making center very quickly...

Our reservations for "Slinky Dog Dash" were coming up and I wasn't sure if we should do it. Bri was being stubborn and didn't want to mess things up for us, so she said she wanted to go on it...

Doug and Briana got the first row...

I don't know how she did it feeling the way she was feeling. What a trooper.

Again she said once she was on it, she kind of forgot for a moment how she was feeling. She even slightly smiled...

Thank goodness Slinky Dog Dash is a more kid friendly ride. It is quite tame for a rollercoaster and slows down when it gets to the top of the drops.

I don't think Bri could have handled anything more intense...

The standby lines for this ride are insane. That is why we waited to go on it when we returned to Hollywood Studios with lightning lanes. It was cute but quite short - there is no way I would wait hours in line for it.

We got done with the ride and I had lunch reservations for Oga's Cantina at 11:35am. We also had Rise of the Resistance reservations for around 1PM. We were debating what we should do.

At that point, we kept hoping the feeling Bri had would improve. So we went and sat in Galaxy's Edge for a long time and just people watched. Kylo Ren made an appearance...

There was a woman taking pictures for Disney photo pass and Doug thought it might cheer Bri up. She forced a smile and we posed for a few photos (which we didn't buy)...

Bri wanted us to keep our reservation for Oga's Cantina though we knew she wouldn't be able to eat anything.

I was a bit upset because I didn't realize that even though you have a reservation for Oga's, you may not get to actually sit down in the restaurant. Most of it is standing.

It does have a cool Star Wars vibe though...

Briana really need to sit and of course we got a standing table. We were situated against a wall luckily and she was able to sit/squat on the ground and get some rest that way. We were also told due to the crowd, we were not allowed to really walk around the restaurant to look at everything. It was a bit of a letdown to be honest.

We were there, and Doug and I needed to eat something, so we told the waitress to make it quick so we could get Bri out of there. B did order a drink but didn't want it.

The drinks were fun and the charcuterie we ordered was actually quite tasty (wish B could have enjoyed some of it)...

We ate and drank super fast and got B out of there.

Bri was feeling pretty bad by then. We realized at that point she most likely had some sort of stomach bug, she wasn't improving and we needed to go.

We ditched going on Rise. We weren't going to wait an hour for it. None of us would have enjoyed the ride at that point anyway. I wish we could have transferred our reservations to someone else or gotten our money back, but it doesn't work that way at Disney. So we just let it go. We had to get B back to the hotel.

I was disappointed. I felt so bad B was sick. I felt so bad that she pushed herself so hard that morning. I felt bad our trip was ending this way. I was just feeling overwhelmed at that point.

We hopped in our car, got B back to the hotel and she was definitely sick. She spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping in bed. She was happy to be able to be in a bed.

I checked the standby wait times for Rise a couple of times that afternoon while I was at the hotel...

Insane. Just insane.

After sitting in the room that afternoon and getting over the shock of what happened, I concentrated on taking care of Briana and tried to focus on how enjoyable the other 5 days of our trip had been.

It started getting later in the evening and Doug and I needed some dinner. Our lunch was not super substantial and we needed food. But, Bri didn't want to smell any food in the room. Bri was feeling decent enough to let us leave for a little while, so Doug and I headed downstairs to the Contempo Cafe to eat something (we had dinner takeout from there on Day 3). It is a little casual restaurant situated next to Chef Mickey's...

We got Chef Mickey's ambiance without actually eating there.

This was Doug's and my last night at Disney, date night meal...

Not super fancy, but it was quite tasty!

We had a nice quiet meal just the two of us while poor Bri was feeling sick upstairs. I wasn't grateful Bri was sick, but I was grateful if this was gonna happen, it happened at the end of our trip. I was also grateful we were not driving home that day either. That would have been tough on her.

We went back upstairs and got some sleep because we had a long drive the next day - Day 7.
