Asheville, NC - Day 3, Part 1

I was a little hesitant about day 3 of our Asheville adventure because of the whole climbing thing Doug wanted to do. ;)

We started out our day finding a little bagel shop that was so good - Bruegger's Bagels...

It was a long, winding ride to Chimney Rock, but we eventually made it...

The weather was cool and cloudy. It was the perfect day to go - not too many people around.

This is what we had to climb (499 steps)...

This was the pretty view even before we started walking...

These are all the stairs...

What was nice about the climb was there were lots of places to stop along the way and catch your breath find your legs enjoy the view...

A quick stop on the way up...

They are high up there (and Doug is deathly afraid slightly nervous about heights)...

Loved seeing the flag on top of the rock...

We finally made it - thumbs up...

Something about a waving flag (made me think of my Grandpa who loved flying his American flag)...

Such a pretty view...

What we were looking at...

Our little family...

Love spending time with my sweet girl...

Yes - I climbed up and survived. Ha! It wasn't bad at all really and I'm so glad we did it. It was so pretty...

Panoramic view...

The step count...

We finally had to venture back down again...

Along the way, there was a tiny cave called the "Bat Cave"...

We checked it out quickly and luckily saw no bats...

After a stop in the gift shop, we decided to hike to Hickory Nut Falls...

The movie "The Last Of The Mohicans" was filmed at the falls and we really wanted to check it out.

Next up ~ our hike to the falls.
