Dear Friends & DHL

Here is another picture of our baby that we received in our referral package yesterday that my agency had not scanned for us. Oh my gosh, I can't stop looking at Briana's pictures!

Thursday, I had several surprises! My sweet, fabulous friends Mick and Kathy surprised me by coming over to my house and taking me out to a celebration lunch. My doorbell rang and I looked through the little window that is right next to the door and there is Mick waving in at me. It was so funny! And she brought me a picture of Briana already framed. Too sweet! Then that evening, another doorbell ring. It was Georgia and Jeff bringing me and Doug a wonderful gift bag of goodies! It contained a cute little outfit including adorable hat for Briana, candies, cookies, beach ball and a gift certificate to Longhorn. (And yes, Doug and I already had a celebration dinner on you last night!) Mick, Kathy and Georgia (and hubbys of course), I honestly can't thank you enough for all the gifts and love you have given me and Doug these past few weeks. Your excitement for us has been absolutely amazing. I know when you all get your referrals, it will feel like referral day for me all over again. I love ya!

Friday, Doug and I got our referral package delivered via DHL. It contained the pictures we had received via e-mail, the little extra picture, referral information (which my agency had e-mailed on Thursday) and documents that need to be signed and returned next week. That poor DHL driver! He rang the doorbell and started to bolt. He wasn’t going to have us sign for the package – I was shocked! I flung open the door and had to yell to him as he was going down the walk, "Um, excuse me – you just delivered our baby!” He turned around and his facial expression was priceless! I have never seen anyone so puzzled before. We explained our story, and then he hugged and congratulated us! What a nice guy! After a few pictures and a cigar that Doug handed him, he went on his way!

In a day or two, I am going to go back and tell you about the events of referral day - which I am so happy my mom and sister were able to be a part of. It was wonderful and amazing (and kind of a blur)! So many phone calls and e-mails! I was exhausted by the end of the day.

Here are pictures of me and Doug with the DHL driver!

I am crying...just feeling so much excitement for you and imagining what it must have felt like to open the door to the DHL driver. I keep writing that I am excited for you, but those words seem like they are not enough to let you know the PURE joy I fee for you and for Doug. You have both waited so long and have been through so much that it just seems so right to me that this wonderful and precious being is now your daughter. Enjoy every single minute of this time!

Way to go Momma! How sweet that he posed for shots with both of you! And, I'm sure you made quite the impression on him. One that he'll be telling his friends for a long time to come.

Ahh, the surprise was so much fun as you could tell by my idiotic clapping LOL
