Blueberry Pickin' - Third Time Around

This is the third year that we headed to the blueberry patch in early July for fresh blueberries. The first year was perfect. The weather was perfect and there were lots of berries on the trees. The second year was not so perfect. The weather was clear, but all the blue blueberries had already been picked because the patch had opened a few days earlier than in past years. Luckily, we had a play date instead and salvaged that day. This year (July 2) there were lots and lots of berries, but it was raining when we arrived. No actually, it was pouring when we arrived...

Kathy and Chani had arrived early and managed to get about a half a bucket before the downpour. But they were drenched when we arrived and decided to head back home to get changed. I grabbed two umbrellas and attempted to have Bri pick just a few berries, but the rain was too hard and we were starting to get drenched too. I told Briana we had to go, and we headed to Kathy's house for a play date.

The girls had a blast playing with Chani's butterfly game...

As Bri and I were leaving Kathy's house that afternoon, we saw that the rain had stopped. I asked Briana if she wanted to attempt to go back to the patch because we weren't going to come back to that part of town for a while and the berries would probably be gone after the 4th of July weekend. She was on board! So, we headed back to the patch and it was practically empty. The weather was cool and the trees were a little wet...

Bri loved every second of it!

Bri started picking some dandelions toward the end of our visit. She said one was for mommy, one was for her and one was for for daddy to make him feel better (he had an ear infection). My sweet girl...

I think we had a pretty successful day all around. :D

 

And yes, they are delicious!
