Briana Loses Her First Tooth!

Oh yes, Friday afternoon was quite traumatic exciting in our house. Briana's loose tooth was basically pointing forward when she got home from school. When I found out Bri had a loose tooth, I informed Doug that I do not "do" teeth and let him know that I really needed support when this whole getting the tooth out thing was going to happen. I can pretty much do anything - snot, sweat, tears, etc. I have a very hard time with teeth. Ack. Cringe. But it was going to be ok because Doug had my back. Or so I thought.

Unfortunately, Doug was called into a very important last minute business meeting Friday afternoon and was not at home when the tooth was about to come out. Even though it was on its last legs, it wasn't going to come out on its own - it needed help. I sucked it up and started to help Bri wiggle it. We sat in the family room working on it. I would wiggle it for a minute and then she would. It was her turn wiggling it and then she had a stunned look on her face. She said, "Where did it go?" And it was gone. It wasn't in her hand. Her mouth was bleeding a bit. I was excited and said to her "You got it out!" Then I looked around and didn't see it. Oh no. I asked her if she accidentally swallowed it. She thought she had and burst into tears. I explained that it was ok and that the tooth fairy would come anyway if we left her a note explaining what happened. I quickly grabbed a paper towel and held it in her mouth. After a minute or so, I went back to the spot were we had been sitting to look again. There, on the ground, was a teeny tiny little tooth. Yay! It had just flown out of her hand and onto the carpet. Bri was elated to say the least. We jumped around in excitement and I gave her a Popsicle.

Here is a short video of me talking to Bri in the kitchen before the tooth came out...

And here is Miss B after...

There it is. So tiny...

We left the tooth fairy a note, her tooth in a little red bag and some cut up chocolate covered raisins for a treat. Bri wanted to give the tooth fairy a treat because she doesn't think the TF ever gets goodies like Santa Claus does...

(The little plastic bug next to the bowl was Bri's treasure box choice from school that day.)

Here is Briana in slumber land...

The next morning, Briana woke up and ran into my bedroom. She grabbed my arm and dragged me into her bedroom. She had seen that the tooth fairy had eaten the treats. She was so excited about the treats being gone that she hadn't even looked under her pillow to find the money. When she lifted her ladybug pillow, there was a $5 bill and a note from the tooth fairy saying she loved Bri's tooth. The note also complimented Bri on her brushing skills and thanked her for the yummy treats. I think Briana was more excited that the tooth fairy liked her treats than anything else. My girl is such a sweetie...

It was quite an eventful Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. About five minutes after all the tooth fairy hoopla, Bri informed me she has another loose tooth. Insert my stunned look here <     >.

This whole tooth losing business is a lot of work.

She's growing up so fast! My oldest just turned 6, and still has all his baby teeth... You can imagine loose teeth and the tooth fairy are a common topic at our house :)

I don't "do" teeth either so I didn't even dare watch any tooth wiggling video. Also, don't let Maisie know that your tooth fairy leaves $5 because her's will be generous if she leaves $1.

Awesome for Briana! The tooth fairy also left Eriks $5.00 for his first tooth. After that it was a $1.00 each. I think he's done losing teeth.

I don't mind teeth. I helped Eriks get one out by accident. It was really loose and he had been wiggling it for forever. He came up behind me to tell me it was almost out and when I turned around, I accidentally hit him in the mouth and it flew out. I had no idea he was that close. He was a little stunned but then started laughing because the way it happened was so funny. What I don't do very well because my sense of smell is so heightened is vomit and diarrhea. Lane deals with it when he's around and I so love him for it.

Tell Briana we said Congrats on losing her 1st tooth!

Aren't little girls the cutest when they're happy? My daughter is like Briana too. She's now in the tooth fairy phase as well. How I wish there's an adult version of the tooth fairy, something like a fairy that gives away dollars for all the hair adults lose. Well, hair fairy, it is. Hehehe.
