First Chinese Dance Class

Look at all these amazing, beautiful faces. It warms my heart! Briana's first Chinese dance class happened last Saturday afternoon and she loved it! I have to give my friend Amy a huge thank you for getting this class off the ground. There are a lot of Chinese language/dance/culture opportunities offered in the Atlanta area, but unfortunately, a lot of them are offered on the other side of Atlanta - which is about an hour from my house. There isn't a lot offered in my particular area, even though we have a significant Chinese/Chinese adoption community. Amy e-mailed a Taiwanese dance professor at a local university nearby letting her know that there was a need on this side of town for a Chinese dance class and asked for any advice. The professor ended up offering to teach the Chinese dance class. We were so happy! The classes will happen on Saturday afternoons (though not every Saturday which is nice) and the girls are going to prepare a dance number for a CNY celebration at the university in January. Yay!!

Friends Imerie, Mary Lin, Emily Grace, Chani (who couldn't be there the first day) and new friend/neighbor Ella are in the class. And I'm sure Bri will be making new friends too.

Briana really wanted to decorate her ballet shoes to make them look Chinese. I suggested stickers and they looked so cute!

Cute girl...

Here are some pictures of the class...

And why not celebrate the end of the first day of Chinese dance class with some ring-around-the-rosy?

This really is a wonderful opportunity for the girls and Briana couldn't be more excited to be a part of the class. I cannot wait for the CNY performance. It is going to be sooo cute!

Lisa ~ May I just say that Bri is looking so LOVELY these days!! *sigh* They are growing up so fast.

While I wasn't at the class, it appears from the pictures that this initial class was way better organized than the Ethoipian dance class we tried out last Spring. I'd love you to send my praise to Amy and the instructor for taking this so seriously and doing a great job of working with the girls. It looks like they migh *gasp* be actually paying attention and learning something! Huge kudos.

You may have heard that Dare is wanting to take Dance and that dad has nix'd ballet, tap and jazz. I am hoping there's a hip hop option soon. But I wonder how he would do in this class??!! He loves the ladies!!

Have a great week. Thanks for sharing!

Looks like they all had a great time. Nice for them to also have an adult role model in their lives as well as peers. Hope it continues to be fun for Briana.

The smile on their faces is a telling that they really love and enjoy very much what they are doing! Actually, they all look like just playing around! I’m sure that with a setting like this, Briana will never lose interest in her Chinese dance class!
