The Big Girl Bed

Finally...Briana is in a big girl bed. I have been collecting all the necessary items the last couple of weeks for the switch-a-roo. New sheets, new bedspread, new mattress - done. Yesterday morning, Doug took apart Briana's crib and converted it into a big girl bed. We didn't purchase a box-spring, so the mattress is low to the ground. Briana can hop in and out of bed very easily. She had a great nap in it yesterday and slept the entire night (Doug had to wake her at 8:30AM!)...though I needed to lie down on the end of her bed both times until she fell asleep. I'm pretty sure I will only have do that for a few days until she gets used to everything.

I will say it was very difficult to watch Doug take that crib apart. I waited so many years for my child to sleep happily and soundly in a crib, and here we are two years later taking it apart. But, it was time. Briana loved her crib. She never tried to jump out of it and she slept great in it. She is very excited to have a big bed now though. I was going convert the crib into a bed right when Briana turned 3, but then I thought it would be best for her to start school and get used to it before throwing another big change at her.
