Heading Into Surgery

Asia is heading into surgery to remove her three masses.

If you could say a quick, little prayer today - I would appreciate it. I won't breathe a sigh of relief until the surgery is over and know she made it through ok.

I got some good news yesterday morning - the ultrasound showed that she has no masses in her spleen or stomach. She just has the three masses that need to be removed.

Asia will be spending the night at the vet's office tonight and we should be able to pick her up tomorrow. Recovery is going to be tough because she will have been cut in three different places. I know she will have to wear a cone around her head and she HATES wearing a cone. Recovery won't be easy or pretty.

You can see the vet already shaved A's leg during the exam - that is one of the tumor sites. The other two are underneath her.

If this surgery can buy her even a little more time, I'll take it. I know some people probably think - good grief, it's just a cat. But, she was a lifeline for me during all my infertility days and also my adoption wait. She is the most loving and affectionate cat - fiercely devoted to our family. If we can give her a little more time (for her and for us), we will do what we have to do to help her.

Love really shouldn't be divided into cat, dog, person. Love is love. Don't explain your love, allow it. This is your blog.
My father made it clear when we were kids when he said, these are not our pets they are members of our family and will be treated as such.

May Asia have an easy recovery and may she offer you many more happy loving memories.
