As soon as we returned home, reality slapped us right in the face. Bri returned to school, Doug to work and I unpacked and got the house back into livable shape.
After we returned from our trip, standardized testing began for Briana - GA Milestones. It's the first time this test has ever been administered, so we will see how the results come out next year (it won't really count because it is a brand new test). It was two full weeks of on and off testing - it seemed liked it dragged on forever. I'm very happy it is over - and Bri too of course.
Briana practiced once again with the Y academy team. She always holds her own and she even scored a beautiful goal during some scrimmage. We are still on the fence about jumping into academy or staying rec. Leaning more toward the academy journey though...
Briana went to a classmate's Minecraft birthday party...
She also got her stitches out - finally!!!
Urgent care selfie per Bri's request...
Mei has decided that Bri's backpack is the new awesome place to be. I keep catching her on it...
We had tons of rain when we returned home from our trip (days of it). Finally, the sun came out and it was green everywhere...
My nephew N2 finally got to meet Mei Mei...
Briana lost two more teeth - a molar and her canine. She is going to have to gum her food soon...
We had dinner one evening with some of our closest friends...
Bri has been drawing up a storm lately. She drew this picture without tracing...
How is this beautiful girl going to be in 3rd grade for only another month? I can't have a 4th grader. It sounds too old...
Briana unfortunately had some very big behavior issues (sassing, huffing, pouting in soccer practice, talking back, sticking out her tongue at me behind my back) when we got back from vacation. She got lectured, talked to (loudly at times) and punished (lost iPad for a while). I don't put up with that kind of behavior and she knows it. I couldn't figure out where the heck my amazing Briana had gone. I finally had a long sit down with her and I found she was super stressed. The testing was stressful, she was tired from vacation, she was upset Doug most likely won't coach next season and she was still reeling a bit from her injury. My kid doesn't always openly share with me, so when I see her acting weird, I need to sit and talk with her. I'm so glad I did because I finally pulled stuff out of her. She seems to be doing so, so, so much better now after our talk. But dang, she's going to kill me during her teenage years.
We have one more month of school - the home stretch!! I am actually very ready for summer vacation to be here. I want two carefree months of hanging out with my gal.
2 Kind Words:
Me and G lying in my bed reading some blogs - she is off school with a viral infection :( and she has just sais "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!" to B's pink football strip!
Her drawing is really good. Getting back to normal stirs emotions. High stakes testing doesn't help. Hang in there
