* I am hearing "no mama" much more now. I am also hearing "sorry mama" a lot more now too.
* I still don't understand why Briana wanders so much in story time at the library. The other kids are singing and paying attention (for the most part), but Bri is checking everybody out. So I bring some Cheerios to get her to sit on my lap. Works like a charm, but I wish I didn't have to do it.
* Briana surprisingly shares very well with other kids. Rarely does she try to take something away from someone. Usually she is the one handing something to someone else. Unfortunately, this gives other kids the ability to snatch things from her instead - usually followed by a "mine".
* Briana is not ready for potty training. I have tried a number of times to get her to sit on the potty (pantless) and she hates it. I've tried both the big and little potty. She says ouch when she is on the little potty. It really doesn't look too comfy. And yes - I have tried bribes to get her to go. No dice. And I am trying to get her (over and over) to tell me she has gone after the fact at least. She doesn't do that either. When I tell her that she needs to tell mommy she went potty, she says "sorry mama." So, I am not going to push right now and revisit it again soon. I have to remind myself that Briana has come so far in so many ways after what she has been through in her short life. She will be potty trained soon (I am shooting for between two and a half and three), just not now.
* The tippy toe walking is improving but it is still there. When she walks slow, she is on her whole foot. When she starts to run, she goes on her toes.
* I have the hardest time finding pants for this child. I have bought 18 month jeans that are just falling off of her. She has a tiny waist but it getting taller, so smaller size pants look like capris on her. Ugh!
* She still is crazy about her baby. Baby goes everywhere with us. I do manage now to get Briana to put baby in the diaper bag when we go places so "she can take a nap." Briana is cool with that. And I do have a backup baby. Looks exactly the same, but more plush. Baby has been washed so many times, her plushness is gone, so Briana knows back up baby is an imposter. Sigh.
* Briana is such a happy kid. Smiles and laughs most of the time. And she is funny too. Always being silly. I love it.
* Bri does have a temper though. When she hurts herself, she starts to scream. Not really because it hurt that bad, but because it happened period. That makes her angry. She has also started the crossing her arms and huffing at me when she is displeased. I really didn't think I would see that at two years old.
* She is getting really good at (age appropriate) puzzles.
* She could watch "Calliou" 24/7 if I let her.
* Doug put some Halloween semi-scary decorations up outside and she calls them "monsters." She keeps wanting to visit them. When we leave the house, she waves and says goodbye to the monsters. And she loves all the "punkys" around the house - pumpkins, of course.
* Miss Thing is sleeping in today for some reason. I better wake her up now or she won't nap today. Mama needs Briana to take her nap.
20 Kind Words:
What a cute pic of Miss Bri...she looks like a rock star!!
I have the same problem with Sarah's pants....I am always searching for the jeans and pants that have that adjustable elastic band on the inside....I believe G@p, Old N@vy, and CP have them in most of their pants!!
Hope you get her to nap today:)
She looks like she FEELS famous! Gosh, who does that remind me of? Hmm...
Oh, and as to the potty training: the Tongginator was three before we even started. She just couldn't get the hang of it all. Believe me, Briana's doing great.
As to the pants -- adjustable waists or Gymboree leggings. That's what works for us.
LOL Sounds a bit like mine :)
Pants - search for adjustable waist pants. They're perfect. I had to buy Kate 3T's for the length, and they literally fall off of her. And that's even with the adjusting to the smallest size! But it won't take long (and sometimes "crossing over" to the other button on the adjustable part helps keep them up.
Baby - Jack had a 'bunny' we had to wash it when he was 1. OH lord. We immediately bought more, and it was a discontinued beanie baby. We have 4, one is in mint condition. Wash "other baby" with the laundry (jeans/towels) for a while and she'll start to 'look better'
Wandering - yeah, can't help ya there LOL
What a cute piccie of Bri. I think Bri the happiest most smiley girl I know, so much like her Mama!! As for the potty training, she is still young and as she's so much like Maisie in temperament I would have to say you'll need to wait until she's ready and then it will happen over night because she wants to do it. I had such an easy time with potty training, it took one weekend and we were done because Maisie wanted to do it.
we don't like the scary decorations either. briana is adorable.
I loved reading all of those things. Bri sounds like a delight with such a spunky personality. Oh, and I'll apoligize in advance for everything Miles takes from her on Saturday. He's relentless.
Sounds like a WONDERFUL,BEAUTIFUL little Toddler..
Love the updates..
Have a Great Week..
And she is just way tooooo cute..
Hugs girly..
I have the same problem with pants for Naomi. She need a 24m or 2T for length but they are all too big at the waist. I have to buy the ones with elastics at the waist (like maternity pants) or sew elastic in. I look for cuts that are made very narrow. I am so used to this because my son has the same problem. Belts work for him but not Naomi as she still has to run to the potty without much warning!
As for Ally's potty experience (she turned 3 in August), she has been daytime PT since mid-summer. Still wearing diapers at night, but panties in the day. Rare accidents. Don't worry about Bri -- lots of time to stress over that! Just a thought from a BTDT 3timer! Lucy
She cracks me up how she rocks the shades!
Love reading the comments too...I'm picking up tips!
Have you tried Old Navy and Gap? They have elastics in the side to make them adjustable.
As for the "No" thing....sigh. Yes, I'm getting that here too. I'm all sympathy, trust me. :-)
Geez 80% of your list sounds like Harrison was at the same age!!! (cept for the pants... H was/is a short-arse!)
I got used to Harrison wanting to climb on his own, by the time he was 3 he was scaling huge heights! Everyone around me was paranoid... cept me!!!
I second the frustrations with pants that are way too wide. Adjustable waist bands are nice...except I have to cinch them up so far that it leaves a lot of bulky gathers around the waist. Things have gotten easier with my teenager, though...in the bigger girls' clothes, they make skin tight jeans, so, I can usually find some that fit my oldest pretty well (but, just as an aside she still wears some of her original size TWO slacks for shorts!...at the age of 13!!! They fit her fine through the waist NOW!)
I think finding smaller waisted jeans and pants gets a little bit easier once your child has aged sufficiently to fit into clothing not designed to accomodate possible diaper wearing.
Sorry you have already reached the crossing the arms and huffing stage...my oldest reached that stage around Bri's age, too...it disappeared for a few years in there, but then came back with a vengence this year (age 13). Isn't it weird when we see stuff we weren't expecting until the TEEN AGE years pop up in our children while they are still itty bitty! Two year olds and teenagers actually have a LOT in common!!! (0:
Oh, how funny! My dear friend, Lisa, is staying at our home right now and I forgot that SHE had logged onto blogger on my computer last night to leave a message on her grandma's blog... Your's is the first blog I have read this morning or commented on and I hit "publish your comment" without realizing I was "Lisa"!!!!
Sorry about that!
Lil Miss Independant!
She seems to be doing VERY well.
Jaclyn used to walk on her tippy toes too! Time for ballet!
One last thought on the pants issue...an inexpensive life-saver are the stretchy slacks that you can find (seasonally) at Wal-Mart...they stayed up well and Darcy pretty much LIVED in those until she was about four years old. (Those are the same ones that she still has some size two ones around that she now wears as shorts, especially at night under an over-sized T-shirt! She STILL has an incredibly tiny waist.)
she's such a cutie.
don't sweat the potty training, she won't go to college in diapers :)
have you tried pants with adjustable waists? we have the same problem, and the adjustable waists are a lifesaver.
Love, Love, LOVE that picture! She looks so stylin' in those shades! :)
You know I am taking notes on all of this for future reference. When you find pants that work will you write about them? :) Love the cheerio idea at story time! Love the monster story! :)
Gee... that pic looks somewhat familiar. LOL!!! Rockstar girls.
Bri sounds like she is doing awesome - and just an independent 2 year old when she wants to be. So amazing what they can do/say....the temper thing sometimes...(and I say SOMETIMES) makes me giggle....
guess the no's had to start eventually, huh? :O)
doesn't surprise me that she's generally just a happy kid, god knows it sure shows in her adorable photos!
