Weird and Random Facts About Me

I have been tagged by my dear bloggy buddy Tonggu Momma to tell seven weird/random facts about myself. I am a little worried because I really don't want you all to think I am actually weirder than you already think I am, but here it goes anyway...

1. I cannot eat anything sweet (like ice cream or chocolate) before or during a meal. To me, sweetness goes after a meal. For example, I cannot drink a milkshake while I am eating dinner - it totally freaks me out.

2. I was the anchor person for my elementary school closed-circuit news program called "Owl Watch" (because our mascot was the owl) when I was in 6th grade. There were auditions and everything. I totally nailed it. :) We would tape the show every Wednesday morning and it would run in all the classrooms on closed-circuit TV on Friday mornings after announcements. We had the K-3 (grade) report, the 4-6 (grade) report, weather and sports. It was completely cutting edge. As a kid, I didn't want to be a doctor or lawyer, I wanted to be the next Jane Pauley. Yes at 11 years old, I knew who Jane Pauley was and wanted to be her. I was going to anchor the Today show. (No wonder everyone called me a "goody goody.") The only problem was that I didn't realize that I would actually have to be a journalist to do the job - meaning work hard. You know, like get the news stories on my own. I just thought I could read the cue cards that were placed in front of me and look cute. So when I learned that unbelievable fact, the dream went completely out the window.

3. Doug and I were friends in high school and decided to go to the high school prom together. (Ok, actually I got one of my friends to tell him that I wanted to go with him. It took him about a week to ask me because he didn't believe I wanted to go with him.) That was our first official date - May 11, 1991.

4. I hate tomatoes. I like spaghetti sauce and ketchup but hate tomatoes. Crazy, I know.

5. I am petrified of lizards. I mean I freak out when I see one. I spent years of my young life in Miami, Florida trying to keep them from getting in the house when I opened the front door. I. hate. lizards.

6. I had scarlet fever when I was six. My mom took me to the doctor because I wasn't feeling well and had a rash. My mom almost passed out when the doctor told her the diagnosis.

7. I am an introvert. Seriously I am. I have to work very hard when I am in social situations - mainly large groups. I have to psych myself up for it. It definitely doesn't come easy to me.

So, there you have it. Seven weird/random facts about me. Hope you still like me. ;)

And I am totally copping out here, but I am tagging whomever wants to participate!

I can add # 8, Lisa likes "Peach Bowle"...LOL! I agree with you, sweetness goes after a meal, not with a meal, but I can easily eat sweet stuff as a meal, i.e. milk shake and cookies for lunch.

Micha

Your not alone with the lizard thing. Cole loves them, so anytime I find one in the pool cage, I send him out to grab and release it into the great outdoors. They move to quick for me and I think they are nasty. Cole also can't stand tomoatoes, but loves spag sauce and ketchup and I always tell him he's an oddball for it!

How cool that your first date was prom. You would have a problem in my house - I have a cat that likes to catch lizards and bring them inside!

I hate tomatoes too. Love tomato flavored stuff...spaghetti sauce, ketchup, etc, but don't do tomatoes. If they're on my salad, I offer them to Lane.

Jane Pauley eh??? She grew up in my hometown and lived in my dad's neighborhood when he was a kid. There were friends of my parents that went to high school with Dave Letterman too.

At first I thought you were going to say you don't like anything sweet AT ALL. THEN I would have thought you were crazy. :o)

How cool you and Doug have known each other since high school. :)
