Yep. It happened again. The thing I absolutely hate. Briana threw up on me today at gymnastics class. It hasn't happened to me since the plane ride home from China. It was horrific then. It was horrific today. Briana has only gotten sick to her stomach three times since came into our lives. The plane ride home from China, once with Doug about two months after we got home (which we now refer to as the "Yo Baby" incident) and today.
Briana was in a great mood today. She woke up so happy. She was so excited to go to class. We were in class about 20 minutes. There was a ladder propped at an angle that the kids were supposed to climb on. Briana ironically was going slowly on this apparatus - she is 150 miles per hour on everything else. Her foot slipped and she bumped her mouth on one of the rungs of the ladder. Of course she started to cry, but not scream. I looked for blood. Nope. Teeth still there? Yep. She has definitely hit her mouth harder than that in the past, so I wasn't too concerned.
But I should have been...
I was hugging and comforting her. All of a sudden...I heard it. That sound. THE sound. By the time you hear THE sound, it's too late - I was covered and she was covered. I ran to the bathroom and desperately tried to clean us both up with paper towels. What was I thinking? That was never going to work. We were way too far gone. I stood in the bathroom looking in the mirror knowing I had to go back out there looking and smelling the way I did. But I had to tell Miss Jennifer that we needed to leave. So, I reluctantly left the bathroom and held Briana tight - trying to hide the damage. I told Miss Jennifer (and Angela) that we were leaving and we bolted. I got Briana in the car and drove home quickly. Doug was working from home today, so I called him to tell him we were on our way. He started out being very sympathetic. Then his sympathy slowly turned to amusement. If you know Doug well, you know this is common practice. Just lovely.
So I got Bri and I home and stripped us both and we threw ourselves in the shower. Briana is a bath girl and she is not used to the shower, but she had a lot of fun. Well, until she slipped in the shower and fell on her butt. Ok, time to get out. OMG, can this story get any worse?
I did manage to get a light lunch into her, so I don't think she is sick. I think she was either in pain or she was upset to the point that she did what she did.
Ah yes, the joys of motherhood. I share everything on this blog. The good, the bad and the gross. Today is one of those days that I definitely earned my mommy badge.
12 Kind Words:
Oh yes, I've been there, done that. Hope this evening will be a relaxing one! Have some wine; you've earned it!
Oh, you certainly earned your badge!!
I can't believe you posted this...we just got back from the doc's, Sarah has the croup, but I was holding her and it sounded like she was going to throw up....thank goodness she didn't...we have not been down that road yet...
I am glad that Bri is okay, sounds like maybe she was just a little worked up....Hope everyone stays healthy!

Every Mother sympathises with you! Puke is my worst fear too. I was VERY blessed that both my kids, were not baby pukers! They have puked of course... but not regularly!
Geez, for one that detests pukage... I'm talking about it an awful lot, aren't I?!!!
Hope it was a one off, and everything stays where it should!
Oh the smell of puke is the worst thing!! I had some today - but because Hannah had a meltdown and made herself puke....fun.
I agree with Sandra - have a cocktail. It was a long day.
You poor thing... that was the worst!!! Glad you were able to make it home and jump in the shower... can you believe EK has Never thrown up since we got her. I KNOW... The day is coming. Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!!!
Blessings,
Sharon
Oh, yuck. I'm so sorry. That is the worst when it happens. And I am a sympathetic vomiter - you throw up, I throw up. The poor husband... he's usually the one who has to clean us up.
Oh how I have been there.. I don't think she is sick.. she was probably just upset..
Love this post.. this is the real life..
Hugs girly.
Have a Great Weekend..
I got it on the ride home from China too. It didn't seem all that bad at the time because I had already been awake for over 24 hours. I can imagine the next time will be worse.
I NEVER thought I would say these words: "Bring on the puke!" (As long as it is my kid doing the puking on me ;0)
Nah, I'm really not looking forward to that part. But, since it's gonna happen anyway, bring it on! :0)
The Sound?!?!?!?!?! What sound????? I am NOT good with 'tossed cookies'. Not good at all! I didn't know there was a sound! (Deep Breath)
Glad you're both ok. I'm glad Doug could turn it into a funny.
A Sound...
Goodness I have so much to learn.
Now there's a "Mom moment" I'm not looking forward to! ;) I used to work at a childcare center though, and I was designated as the "throw-up person". Yup, anytime one of the kids threw up, I was the one called in to deal with it, because I could handle it without getting sick myself. We also had a "poop person", to deal with those kids of crisis, because that was something I simply couldn't stomach.
(We're talking 5 year olds here. I am totally okay with changing diapers on a baby. That I have done a million times. No, I'm talking about "accidents" that the older kids have. Ewwwwww.)
Oooh, sorry to read this. Poor things, both of you. You're going to find this hard to believe but Moe loves to gag himself to the point where he throws up. Needless to say, I have been thrown up on quite a bit. Blech.
