NYC Trip 2026 - Day 3, Part 1/Staten Island Ferry And Statue Of Liberty

We got up early in the morning on Day 3 of our 2026 NYC adventure and grabbed an Uber to the Staten Island Ferry terminal so we could sail by the Statue of Liberty.

This is one of those things I had been wanting to do but never got to it on our previous trips...

I had done a little research about where we needed to be located on the boat in order to get the best view. Right side of the boat when heading to Staten Island and left side when heading back.

The terminal was large. The boat leaves every 30 minutes (the ride is 25 minutes). We got there about 10:15 and stood by the doors in order to board the boat quickly...

We boarded the boat and found a great place to stand. And we were off...

It was such a pretty ride...

Passing Lady Liberty...

Pretty view...

We saw a couple of lighthouses on the way...

A different ferry docked as we pulled into Staten Island...

Everyone is told to depart the ferry once it docks. You need to go back into the terminal to re-board the boat again. So, that is what we did...

We weren't able to get close to the doors obviously this time and were in the back of the crowd of people getting on the boat to head back to the city. We had such a great view the way there and we were kind of tired from the busy day before, so we just sat inside the boat for the quiet ride back...

Briana really wanted to head to Chinatown for lunch after our boat ride and we decided to take the subway since the station was right there...

My next post - our visit to Chinatown.
