Our Sorrowful Loss

As you all know, the entire month of March I was very sick. I got every sickness under the sun - strep throat, pink eye, cold, cough, ear infection, etc. What everyone did not know was that I was pregnant on top of all of that. Sadly last Monday night/Tuesday morning, I miscarried at 8 weeks. I didn't miscarry because of the sickness - I miscarried because it just wasn't meant to be...

Although I have always been honest and pretty forthcoming on my blog, I did consider not sharing this news because it is so very personal. But not sharing this news would have made me feel like I was holding something back, and that is just not me. So many of you have followed the events in my life for years and have been such an amazing support system. I know many of you have been wondering where I have been and what has been going on. So this is what has been going on.

I have decided though not to go into detail about the pregnancy and miscarriage on the blog. I will say that Briana was never told about the pregnancy, so she is unaware of what exactly happened to mommy.

I'm sad that I am not able to give Briana a sibling at this time. And to be honest, Briana may never have a sibling. Emotionally, physically, mentally - Doug and I are just drained. We have been working on building a family for nine years now. In those nine years, we received one amazing blessing and are so eternally grateful. I think about those of you still waiting for your children after years and years of waiting (whether biologically or through adoption) and my heart goes out to you. The strain is unbelievable. Over the last few days I decided to stop, take a breath and remember all the blessings that I have in my life. In life, sometimes you just have to know when to fold your hand. I have a wonderful husband, supportive family and friends, and the most amazing, spirited, outgoing daughter. I have a very happy and fulfilled life. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have this beautiful little girl in my world...

We are sad. We are grieving. But I know we are going to be just fine.

{{{Hugs}}} for you, Lisa!!
I know how devastating miscarriages can be. The last one we had was 13 months ago....and it lead us to our decision to adopt.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of healing.
{{{Hugs}}} to your husband, too. I know it can be just as hard on the hubbies as well!

Hi Lisa, I also wanted to express my sincerest sympathies on your loss. I also know on a personal loss the pain you and Doug are feeling. May the support of your family and friends, as well as God's promise to give us peace of mind (Philippians 4:6,7) sustain you through this difficult time. Much love! Jessica Williams

I am so very sorry for your loss Lisa. I am glad to know you have your loving family and friends to help support you through your loss, and that you have your beautiful, joyful, amazing Briana to remind you of the blessings you do have in your life.

Please accept a "hug" from a stranger, who as a regular reader of your blog rather feels as though she knows you, and respects what a loving mother, wife, and friend you so obviously are. Those qualities shine through in your blog posts, and have led me to truly care about you and your family.

I'm sending wishes for a healing heart your way.

So very sorry about your illnesses and your loss. I can only say that it is a very personal matter that requires nothing short of a life long ache; the date, the remembrance, will all be part of the memory of losing a very loved one. We still remember what may have been on those anniversaries. Please grieve and talk to others. Wish we could do something, know we are thinking of you.

I have been SO out of the loop as you know... I am so sorry to hear about this and yet, while you were going through this, you still found the time to drop by to say hi to me a few days ago... Lisa, I wish I lived closer and would be bring over my Shauna and a Bon Jovi CD and we could just drown your sorrows that way :) Easier said that done but never say never... something, somewhere will come along whatever it maybe... but yep, Bri is a HUGE blessing... I am sending you a really big hug.. sending to you all...

Lisa, as soon as I read your blog, my mind immediately brought thoughts of my last miscarriage 30 years ago. I can feel your sadness and pain. But, 30 years ago, I too, had felt that I couldn't take any more emotional pain. So, we have only one son. And,like you and Doug, enjoyed every moment of his childhood. Even though I didn't have more biological children, as a teacher for the past 35 years, I have loved many of my students, as if they had been my own. God has a plan for each of us. For now, you need to grieve, but you too will find your path. You're a loving person with an amazing family. Your beautiful spirit is a blessing to so many!

I was catching up today as I had a few minutes and came to your blog. I'm so very sorry for our loss and for all the illness you've been experiencing. I know that feeling (the illnesses part) It's all very draining and now this loss on top of it. We are sending prayers your way for emotional and physical healing.
You are right though.. You have been blessed immensely with a bright, beautiful special little girl and while that will not remove or replace this loss... it's good that you are able to focus on those blessings you presently have.
Hope you are feeling better soon!!!
