Summer flew by so quickly. I couldn't believe when we hit the last week of Bri's summer vacation. I wasn't sure where the summer went.
I have Briana's eyes checked each year in the summertime. We found out that she is getting more nearsighted each year (as she grows) and she is getting more dependent on her glasses.
Smiles at the eye doctor...
Since she is more dependent on her glasses, she really needs glasses on the soccer field. Bri always put her glasses aside for games, but it's not an option anymore. We tried to get Bri fitted for contacts, but that was a major FAIL. The nurse could not get the contacts in Bri's eyes, and Bri was very upset (and me too) by the nurse's refusal to give up (it was quite uncomfortable). I nixed the whole thing and we opted to get sports glasses instead. Bri found a super cute pair of sports glasses during that week before school started...
She'll be able to see the ball now on the field!!!
Tuesday evening, the week before school started, I had a girls night out with my sister and our friend Jody...
We saw the "Imomsohard" ladies and they were freaking hilarious...
If you haven't seen their spanx video, you need to look it up...
This was them on the night we went to the show...
Bri's school "open house" occurred the Thursday before school started...
I could not believe we were walking all around MIDDLE school...
We visited all of B's teachers and saw where all her classrooms were. We found the gym and cafeteria too. It was very overwhelming and chaotic - but helpful at the same time.
We went out to dinner after the open house. I drowned my middle school sorrows in wine and sushi...
The Friday before school started, we had our annual Papa's birthday swim...
I had a spread of lunch meats and egg salad available for lunch...
Ice cream cake for Papa...
My gift to my dad for his birthday was an autographed copy of Carl Reiner's new book...
Pretty cool, huh?!
The Saturday before school started, we met Bri's friend Meredith and her family for some rock climbing (I previously blogged about this)...
The Sunday before school started, we celebrated our 10 year Briana/Gotcha day anniversary...

Bri picked a Thai/Japanese restaurant for dinner. She and Doug were not behaving very well...
My two loves...
Feasting on Pad See U...
The night before school started, I painted Bri's nails and we picked out her outfit for school...
Bri and I were very nervous about B's first day of school. Everything felt so different. My next post - the first day of middle school.
