Two Years Ago - First Local Adopters Dinner

I started my blog - which was then called "Waiting For Briana" - in July of 2006. I went through the archives of my blog a few days ago to find the post in which I talked about the first time Kathy and I went to the Big Toy consignment sale (which I linked to my last post). Of course, I couldn't help reading a bunch of my posts from 2006. Wow. It is truly amazing how much my life has changed in two years. When I started my blog, I was a person entrenched in the adoption process. I was someone so heartbroken from the agony of infertility that I couldn't allow myself to get really excited about the thought of becoming a mother. It is now 2008, and I am a completely different person. My dream came true and now I am experiencing the daily trials and tribulations of being a mom. My blog evolved from one type of blog to another. I have certainly come a long way from this post.

I came across the post I wrote on October 2, 2006. I wrote about attending my first local China adoption dinner with Doug on September 30 - two years ago today. Here is the post. It was the first time I met Lisa and Eammon, Melissa and her family, Stephanie and Jason and Deb and her family. I honestly can't believe it was two whole years ago.

I feel a true excitement in the air because a number of my friends/blog buddies have February and March LIDs. I cannot wait to see them united with their children. The wait has been too long. It is time to see their dreams come true now. It is time to see their blogs evolve the way mine has - from waiting adoptive parents to parents with beautiful children from China.

I can't wait...

It is always fun to reflect on the past! A lot can change in two years...as you already know!

I agree...it is so exciting to see everyone getting so close....some of these people about to get referrals are the very first blogs I had ever seen or read!

Although we still have another year of waiting...it is great to watch those ahead of us...watching them unite with their children makes it worth every minute of the wait!

Enjoy your day...I loved reading your old posts!

Life is an incredible journey...an ever changing adventure...

and have you noticed how it jumps to WARP SPEED once you have a little one in your home?

Ironic...just when you would like life to slow down so you can savor the moments it suddenly, dramatically, speeds up!

Two years doesn't seem like that long.. amazing how your life changes..
I am hoping in two years we will have the joy of Isabella..
This wait is long but without the wait we would not have the blessing to meet and get to know the amazing ladies that are in this adoption community.
Thanks for always being such a Great support..
Hugs to you..

Absolutely...what amazing changes.

Yes, I can hardly wait to make the transition to the 'mama' blogging myself. But, in the meantime, I will numb the mind of unsuspecting souls with ongoing talk about how flipped out I am that my kiddo is soon to be here :0)

Seriously, that get together seems like it was yesterday. I remember it well and being so jealous that your LID was Nov05 while we were Nov06.

Can you imagine having gone through this all without the blog community????

I am 99.9% sure that Moe and I will be able to attend your party and I can't wait to see the three of you.

It is so amazing to see how far you have come. I also had a hard time believing that something would not go wrong - even as we sat in the Civial Affairs office on the day we would get Charlotte - I would not believe it until I saw her. I am also excited for those that I know who are so close to finally realizing their dream.
