We got to the North Georgia State Fair about an hour and a half later than we have in years past (Doug had a late afternoon meeting) and it was pretty crowded when we arrived. I prefer getting to the fair mid to late afternoon, but we got there early evening instead on Friday.
Bri was buzzing with excitement of course. So many sights and sounds...
This year, there was a really cool ski lift over the fair...
This was the first ride Bri wanted to go on...
The man running the ride was awesome. He really interacted with the kids...
I told Bri that we needed to eat right away because the longer we waited to grab some food, the less opportunity we would have to actually find an open table somewhere. Fair food - yummy...
After dinner, Bri went straight for the bungee. Her first love...
She flipped and flipped and flipped with a huge smile on her face...
Next was the "hamster ball" - Bri loved it...
Then we showed Bri the roller coaster. Doug was less than thrilled having to go on it! LOL!!!
Bri loved it so much the first time, she was yelling as she got off the ride "I want to go AGAIN!!!" So they went again. This is a perfect ride for my thrill seeking gal.
Then we took a slower ride above the park on the ski lift...
We passed by the Ferris Wheel, so Bri and I had to go on that of course...
Next, it was swing time...
Briana picked this blow up panda to take home. Unfortunately for Pink Panda, somehow she got punctured on the way home in the car and is permanently deflated. There were a few tears shed on Miss B's part...
You might notice B had a wardrobe change that night. It actually got a bit chilly when the sun went down and I luckily brought leggings for Bri to change into from her shorts. And I brought a sweater for her too. Always be prepared!
The last ride of the evening - the motorcycles. Sadly, Briana just hit the mark for being able to ride this. Next year, she will be too tall. Wah! She is getting too big for the kiddie rides. And she is getting too adventurous for them too. She rather ride the adult rides now. But, she still enjoyed the motorcycles...

If you want to hear authentic carnival music, just listen to this and watch Bri dance...
I did enjoy the fair. And so did Bri and Doug.
But ~~~
The last hour at the fair was insane. We usually never stay past 9PM, but we stayed until 10PM because we got there later than normal. The fair was completely packed. And I don't enjoy crowds. Or lazy attendants that won't help your kid get on a ride. Or people that teach their kids to cut in line in front of your kid and don't care. Or mothers (and fathers) that blow cigarette smoke right toward their kids (and my kid). Stuff like that started to really get to me that night. I started witnessing this type of behavior more and more around 8PM that night. By 10PM, Doug and I were done and SO ready to go home.
Note to self - go much earlier in the day to the fair. Preferably during the week - staying away from Friday, Saturday and Sunday if possible. And don't stay past 9PM. Period!
(I sound like a cranky old lady - don't I? LOL!)

3 Kind Words:
I always enjoy your fair posts and watching Bri's sense of fun and adventure grow! Love the ride over the fair after dark. Beautiful!
I totally get where you're coming from when it comes to the rudeness of people. Guess we can be cranky old ladies together - and proud of it as we teach our amazing, spunky daughters manners and respect! :o)
I agree with Catherine, and you are quite right to feel how you do!
I have a love/hate thing going on with the fair. We havent taken G yet deliberately for all the reasons you mentioned but I know the day is coming when we will have no choice.
But the fair at night, with the lights, looks so pretty :)
All those reasons you listed are reasons why I need a cabin in the woods. LOL
What is with these adventure seeking girls we have???
We have to get our girls together one day as they are so similar.
