Saturday was Coach Doug's first game and the first game for the new Team Argentina. It was awesome (even though it was very hot)! Team Argentina WON both of their 25 minute games! We have some really promising talent this year and with Doug adding in an extra practice, it all came together on that hot afternoon.
Briana was holding the team snacks for me as we walked onto the field...
The field was ready for the first games of the season...
Our girls got about 20 minutes to warm up and practice...
They rested and hydrated (on our brand new bench) for a few minutes before game time...
Coach Doug filling them in on their positions...
The first game was against Team Netherlands...
Coach Doug coaching and Briana at the front of the pack...
Briana made one goal the first game and the score ended up 6-1.
Good game, good game...
The second game was against Team Australia...
The girls started slow that game and the other team was up by two goals. Briana came into the game and made the first goal for our team. She also made a beautiful assist too. By the end, it was 5-2.
Good game, good game...
We had one of our new players make 5 goals over the two games! All the girls did so well - especially since this was their very first time playing together. We will be against two different teams next week (Switzerland and Portugal). We will see how they size up!
And Uncle Jimmie came to support Coach Doug and Briana on their first game!!!
Hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler next weekend. I'm ready for fall weather now! The girls were pretty warm, but they pushed through and I'm so proud of them!
Go Team Argentina!
