I Didn't Realize How Much I Missed It

I really didn't realize how much I missed it. Library story time that is. I took Briana as a toddler every week - up until she started school last year. I always loved watching her at story time. I took her today, and this was our second time this summer. We are now attending the older session - the session for 3 and 4 year old kids. It is definitely a lot quieter than the 18 to 36 month old class! Bri loves all the songs and books. Of course, her favorite parts are still the short movie and the craft at the end.

What I love: I love how enthusiastic Briana is when she dances. I love how much she concentrates when the books are read. I love that she shouts out answers when the librarian asks questions. I love that she often looks back at me to see if I'm watching her. And I love that she still comes and sits on my lap when the movie starts. She just makes me happy.

Gosh I love this age. I love Briana at 3. She is so funny. She knows everything that is going on around her. She takes in and processes everything. Someone told me once to watch out for the "terrible threes." I've never experienced any of that with Bri. Briana has been a true joy. Now that doesn't mean she doesn't exhaust me - LOL! But she really is such a happy, easy-going kid. If she is this great at three, I can't wait to see her at four.

Briana will most likely be my only child. So, I won't be able to experience the "3's" again. I am trying to soak in every moment I can. I don't want to blink. I can't believe she will be 4 in August. Time certainly flies on "this side of the wait."

I took all these pictures last week at story time...

Bri is going to start Pre-K in August. Four days a week. I know I will enjoy the few hours a day of alone time, but I also know I will miss her like crazy.

You are describing what we hope our little AA will be doing soon; she is beginning to be more carefree and attentive. Still missing the security, as she will not leave me to sit up front, away from me at story time. AA is almost four and still about a year behind. Loved the description of Bri. We hope to be there with AA someday. Yes, no terrible threes yet for us. AA is just speaking so who knows, maybe it will come later :)

I wish we had pre-K here. Naomi is starting to get bored at daycare and her 2 older friends are off to kindergarten this year so she will be with the babies. She also has 2 years to go until kindergarten because she misses the cut off for the school year (Sept 30)by 22 days.

I'm so glad you're able to soak up this time with her. The school years go so fast as they get older.

Time goes by faster as they get older. We had a terrible 3's phase with our son, but the 4's have been WONDERFUL. He is also starting PreK in the fall and is SO excited about it. Our baby is our last baby, and I have tried to cherish every stage of her babyhood... But, true to form, my girl is a bit advanced and trying to walk at 9 months - does she not know taht I want her to stay little a while longer???? :-)

Oh man - you got that right. Time flies at this end of the wait. (Please tell me where the last year went.)

Sounds like a great activity for the summer. I love that you steep yourself in every moment with your sweet girl. Good reminder for me! Thanks.

Got to agree with you about what a great age this is to share. I'm enjoying it so much. I've been taking the time recently to just stop and savour having this time with Hannah. It's wonderful. I couldn't ask for more in life.
