First Soccer Practice/Game With The YMCA

Briana had her very first soccer practice on a U5 team on Saturday morning with the Y. She has missed soccer so much. The last time she played soccer was in March of last year with Soccer Tots. Here she is posing in her soccer gear and holding her elephant "Sneezy"...

When we got to the field, we met up with ML and all the girls got t-shirts. They are on "Team Brazil"...

First, they started with some warm up and practice. Briana got back into the swing of things very quickly...

Then the "game" started with the other U5 team. Unfortunately, the other team is full of "ringers." They all have been playing together for a very long time. They really know the drill and some of the girls on our team had never even played soccer before. I am a bit worried our team might get a bit discouraged because the other team is so good (and there is only one other U5 team, so that is the team they will always play). Before the practice even started, the coach warned us about this other team - "Team Netherlands." I will say, Briana is really good too. She just needs some more practice. But she was definitely in there trying to take the ball from the other team...

Then she got to play goalie for a little while and even stopped a ball...

I think she has what it takes...

They didn't win, but they did so well for their first time together. Go "Team Brazil!"

After practice, Briana and ML wanted to have lunch together. So, "Welcome To Moe's!"

Briana absolutely loved being back in soccer. And she cannot wait until next Saturday. You should have heard me (and Doug) cheering her on. I am already a "soccer mom." Heh.
