Well, Georgia got another wallop from Mother Nature this week. A huge ice/snow event.
I have to admit - I am going a bit stir crazy now. I've been in this house since Monday afternoon and school has been cancelled again for tomorrow. The streets are actually dry and clear in my neighborhood, but I guess there are some places in the country/shaded areas that are still iced over. Sooooo, no school tomorrow.
Briana and I WILL be going somewhere tomorrow. Anywhere tomorrow.
After the huge snow debacle two weeks ago, Georgia was ready for this punch. We knew a long time in advance and lots of places started closing down on Monday evening.
I did all my grocery shopping Monday morning while Bri was in school. I went super early to the store because I knew the hysterics that would occur Monday afternoon. And as I predicted, I heard it wasn't pretty.
I made a very hearty turkey chili on Monday and it turned out awesome. It has lasted a while too which has been nice...
A little snow came down on Tuesday morning, but it didn't affect any of the roads really. School was still cancelled as a precaution. Bri and I (and Doug worked from home) decided just to stay at home. It just wasn't worth going out in the cold weather...
Tuesday night into Wednesday morning was when things got a bit sketchy. We had a wintery mix of sleet and rain. We were very nervous about freezing rain and our power going out.
It sleeted the entire day Wednesday. It was just nasty outside and the roads iced up quickly. We had probably an inch of ice that fell on the ground that day. Counties south of us were getting hit with freezing rain - that is the really nasty stuff. Lots of power outages. Luckily, we never lost power. We decided to bake, color and work on Valentine's cards since no one was going anywhere...
That evening, the sleet finally turned into snow. And it lightly snowed all night...
This morning, we woke up to this. It was magnificent...
We definitely got a couple of inches. I wish I had measured it, but I didn't.
We set up a time for the M family to come over this morning and play in the snow...

Once they arrived, we walked back to the golf course that is right behind our house...
The sun came out full force and it started melting everything really quickly around us. Things started to get pretty slushy.
It was a wet, sloppy snow - great for making snowmen though...
And snow angels...
Doug wasn't able to go to the golf course with us because he had a conference call, but he did come outside once we got home so he could have a snow ball fight with the girls...
We were soaking wet when it was all said and done, but we had a lot of fun...
I was really hoping Bri could get back to school tomorrow. It is Valentine's Day and she has all her cards ready to pass out to her classmates. Oh well, it will just have to wait.
Oh - and it is winter break next week. Lots. More. Together. Time!!! I am going to pray that Bri doesn't forget what school is. There is no doubt some of these days off will have to be made up sometime. Yikes!!!!

Lovely snow. Just the right amount. Glad your family didn't lose power.
