Day 4 of our Colorado trip was completely breathtaking. The weather was gorgeous. The sky was so blue and there was not one cloud in the sky. The aspen trees were at their peak of fall color and absolutely beautiful. It literally was a picture perfect day.
I woke up that morning and this is the view that greeted me...
We all got dressed and walked into town for some breakfast...

After breakfast, Wes and Ann suggested going on a hike to look at leaves. They recommended going on the Aspen Alley Trail to see some amazing color. And they were absolutely right. I knew it would be beautiful, but this exceeded every expectation I had.
We started at the old mining establishment at Wakefield (the bottom of Aspen Alley Trail). As you walk along the trail, you come across old mining equipment left behind.
We started at the bottom and worked our way up the mountain trail...
There was golden yellow as far at the eye could see...
Simply breaktaking...

There were several spots along the trail where you could see all the golden aspens amongst the evergreen trees. Gorgeous...

We got to a certain point on the trail when we looked around and saw all the gorgeous aspens below us...
But, there were really no more aspens ahead of us (and the trail continued to go up for a while). At that point, we decided to head back down the mountain.
We thought it would be nice to hit the town one more time and do a little more sightseeing and shopping ~ maybe grab a little lunch too.
Off to the town we went...
