A Tale Of Two Team Argentinas

Saturday ended up being a tougher day for our girls on Team Argentina. We lost one and and won one.

The girls were all over the place for the first game. I don't know what happened. It wasn't a blow out by any means (1-2), but they just weren't on their game.

Gramma and Papa came to watch the games...

We played Team Netherlands first. We played them the very first soccer weekend and won the game. Just as we have improved over the last few weeks, they have too. They were tough today. One girl got two beautiful long shots from mid-field to score their two points. I'm thinking she will be heading to academy next year.

Part of Bri's problem the first half was that her shoe was coming untied. As soon as I got it fixed, she seemed to kick into gear a bit better...

We played Team USA next. It was also a close game. We won 5-4.

The girls had their heads in the game much better for this half.

Briana got one goal. Bri's teammate Ella got all the other goals. She was on fire! She was the mvp for this Saturday for sure...

USA was the only team in the league we had not played yet. And we won! So Team Argentina has now beaten every team in our local league.  :)

I'm proud of our girls. The games were tough today. Definite nail biters. I was feeling stressed! Doug was too! Their opponents were making them work for it.

When the game was over, the USA coach came over to Doug and said how well Team Argentina spreads the ball out. That was really nice to hear. The girls are learning to stay in their zones and they pass the ball really well too. They know making a goal is a team effort and an assist is just as important, if not more important, than kicking the ball into the goal. This is such a good lesson in teamwork.

Gramma and Papa were so happy to see Bri score and thought she played amazing...

The weather was cool, breezy and beautiful. Couldn't have asked for a prettier weather day.

I'm curious as to what will happen next week!
