Summer Camps

Briana attended two week long summer camps over the summer. Between having a couple of trips planned and just wanting some down time to relax or visit with friends, two was all I set up for her.

The first camp Bri had was in June with her BFF Mary. It was a cake decorating camp at our local community center.

Bri and Mary were so excited when they realized friend Josie and her sister were also in the camp...

I didn't even snap a picture of the girls at Wednesday camp, but Briana spent the night with Mary Wednesday night). More on that in my next post...

Thursday, the girls were all smiles again...

They had to make icing that evening for a cake they were decorating on Friday...

Oh my gosh - the camp instructor baked all the cakes from scratch for the kids to decorate. Like 20 of them! And they were absolutely delicious!

Bri's second camp was in July with BFF Imerie. It was a fashion illustration camp at our local art center. Bri and Imerie have been attending camp together at this center for years. They always attended camp in the mornings, but now that they are older, the older kids camps were scheduled for the afternoons.

Here they are on the first day...

I had to get permission for Bri to be in this camp because she was 3 weeks shy of being 11. But since she has attended camp there for so long, they were fine with letting her in...

One afternoon, my friend Val picked the girls up from camp and got them these ginormous snow cones! They looked amazing!!

My fashion girl already has a name for her fashion line - "The Darkend Sea." Heh.

Bri said the camp was "just ok." This is surprising because she has always loved camp at this center. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that in 5 days of camp, she only ended up with 4 pieces of artwork (previous camps she came home with 10 pieces). I have to wonder what they did every day. For some reason, the instructor made them create most of their drawings with watercolors. It's kind of hard to create fashion in watercolor. I think the instructor had been to fashion school, but she didn't seem very experienced. I heard they had a more experienced instructor last year. It's a shame because Bri was really excited about this camp. Not saying she didn't have fun (she loves being with Imerie), but it could have been a bit better.

Hoping to find some camps again next summer that will peak B's interest and allow her to see her sweet friends.
