Miss B always looks so cute going to school. She was super keen on this unicorn and mermaid shirt. :)
At the end of March, Bri went on her 4th grade field trip. They went to the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Bri was pretty excited...
I had every intention to go and meet Bri's class at the center, but I was still sick. :(
It was a bit of a drive and I just couldn't see myself doing it. I don't like to miss stuff but had to in this case. Bri still enjoyed herself. The class even got to touch a snake (teacher sent these pics)...
Bri's school also had their annual art show. Bri painted this beautiful landscape (which is now proudly hanging in my master bathroom)...
We were happy to run into friend Ella and her parents at the school that evening...
Right before spring break, there was a very big event in Bri's world. It was shark dissection day in Bri's Venture (gifted) class. The kids studied shark anatomy for several weeks. Bri needed to learn both the insides and the outsides of the shark. And after lots and lots and lots of studying (with help from me and Gramma), she finally nailed the test. Did you know that sharks had "Ampullae of Lorenzini?" Yeah - me either. I do now. Snort.
Before the dissection, Bri acted all "I'm going to be SO grossed out by this." Doug volunteered that day in the classroom. He said she was the opposite of grossed. In fact, he said she was a bit deranged. Heh. Cutting into brains and poking out eyes were pretty exciting for her. She dug right in and kind of freaked out her two partners with her enthusiam - heh.
My little scientist...
Completely into it...
Her super sweet partners (Bri looks so tiny!)...
Bri went off for spring break for a week and then returned to school with the GA Milestones (standardized testing) smacking her right in the face (starting that Tuesday). The kids didn't even have a chance to get back into the swing of things before testing.
Look at my girl's face...
This was Bri on a Monday morning before she burst into tears before going to school. She was so nervous about testing the next day. Nothing I said in that moment really helped her calm down.
She came home from school that afternoon and she and I had a long talk. I assured her she was going to rock the test and that I would be proud no matter what.
The Tuesday morning of the test, she was dressed comfortably and was actually smiling and happy...
Once she got over the two day English/Language Art days (her least favorite part), she was golden. She likes math, social studies and science.
The day she finished, we went to a Mexican restaurant and had celebratory cheese dip...
Life since the test has been more relaxed. I cannot believe Bri only has 5 weeks left of school.
On days she doesn't have PE, she can wear a dress. She just bought this one on spring break...
She looks so stinking grown up sometimes.
Life with Miss B is never dull, that's for sure.
How can you not love a kid who's favorite color is glitter? ;) ...
Bri's school also had their spring school book fair before spring break. Each day of the book fair, the kids were encouraged to dress up. I'll be blogging about that in my next post.

2 Kind Words:
Her landscape is really well done. What fun days other than testing. Why do schools put so much stress and pressure on this age?!?! Shark knowledge will come in handy someday I am sure at trivial pursuit or some such, heh.
5 weeks to Summer Break.........yikes!
