Last Sunday was the last full day we saw the sun. The sun was out for a short while in the morning on Monday and Tuesday, but it rained in the afternoons. We have had nonstop rain Wednesday through now. Hopefully this weekend the sun will make an appearance once again.
Briana was looking at her iPad on Sunday and I decided she needed to get out of the house. She threw on her swimsuit, I turned on the sprinklers and she grabbed some umbrellas and squirt guns. I sat on the front porch in my rocking chair watching her run around the yard...
All of a sudden, Doug came out dressed to play. It was squirt gun warfare...
It was the Sunday after my grandmother's passing. I just looked at the beautiful sky...
My gardenia bush was in full bloom (gardenias are my favorite flower)...
After sitting for the longest time on the front porch, I went around to the back deck. I watered my flower baskets. They are growing beautifully...
Popped on the bubbling fountain...
The sprinklers turned on in the backyard and I started seeing rainbows everywhere...
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was my grandparents favorite song. I saw a number of rainbows after my grandfather passed in 2002. Now these appeared right after my grandmother passed...
Briana asked if she could give me a pretend pedicure with the hose. Why not?
Doug decided to throw a couple of steaks on the grill for dinner. I poured some wine in a glass my mom bought me...
Eventually we had steaks "Oscar Style" and roasted Brussel sprouts out on the back screened in porch. Yum...
Up until that Sunday, we had been going, going, going. Camp, birthdays, play dates, my grandmother's illness and passing. It was the first quiet day that we had in a while. It was peaceful - melancholy yet happy at the same time. A perfect afternoon; a very bittersweet day.

2 Kind Words:
A great day with your sweet family. Great yard!! Love your flowers. I think often about how much Briana and EK look so much alike. Precious!!!!
A much needed day and I love how you saw all the rainbows.
I find pennies all the time and I know they are pennies from heaven. now you will too.
