I have a little art nook now!
I just received the beautiful "forever" painting from my friend Beverly for my birthday (she painted it) and I already had the painting above it hanging from my friend Kathy's first foreign exchange student Anna. The painting says "Briana." And I painted the birds (above) with my friend Amy a couple of years ago...
The paintings below were painted by my great grandfather (my grandmother's father). He painted them in 1958 and 1959. When my grandmother moved up from FL to her assisted living home in Georgia, I asked my mother if I could have the paintings. I had always admired them as a child and I knew they would be perfect in my home. But when I received them, I wasn't sure where to hang them. So I stored them in the guest room closet and just never put them up...
My great grandfather was a small framed man - an Austrian painter and gardener. He loved to wear bow ties. He
loved to paint pictures of Austria, Germany, cottages and countrysides.
But, he also loved to paint pictures of the orient...
When I hung Beverly's painting with Anna's, I thought immediately about how nice my great grandfather's pictures would go with them. I had some other pictures up, but they just didn't fit there anymore. So I took them down and put up my great grandfather's...
They are perfect there. I am so glad that I finally found the perfect place to display them. They remind me a lot of my grandmother, so it is a comfort to have them up now.
1 Kind Words:
A lovely post :)
