Venture Class - Medieval Times Field Trip

Briana's field trip to Medieval Times (with her Venture class) landed right in the middle of my battle with taste/smell issues and anxiety. I had signed up to chaperone before I got sick. I debated whether I should go or not, and I finally decided that I should go. I wanted to go for Bri - and I did it. I actually ended up having a very nice time.

Bri wore her medieval period dress once again (she already wore it to her knighting ceremony)...

The Venture teachers rented two very nice charter buses...

Another mom and I were assigned 4 girls (including Bri) to keep tabs on while we were on the field trip. I was very excited to be able to sit with Bri on the bus...

The kids got to watch a movie going there and finished it up as we came back home (the Good Dinosaur)...

We arrived at Medieval Times after driving for an hour or so...

I had been to Medieval Times one time before ~ before Bri came home ~ and I thought it was really fun. Bri had never been before and I really wanted to see her experience it for the first time...

I realized that all of the attendees were field trip goers from schools all over the area. All the schools were welcomed as we arrived (it was a bit of organized chaos)...

Briana and her sweet friends...

Bri in front of flags...

We came in and sat down (in the front row!). The schools were separated by team colors. We were sitting in the blue section, so the knight we had to root for was going to be wearing blue...

The kids were so excited for the show to start. And they were getting hungry ~ lunch was coming soon...

Me and my best girl...

I snagged a picture of the food from the internet. We were served roasted chicken, garlic bread, corn and a potato. Everyone eats with their hands! I have to say, I tasted quite good that day and the food was delish...

We ate as we watched the tournament...

I loved seeing this horse coming out galloping ~ so beautiful...

Tournament time...

Here was our knight. He had a great smile. Unfortunately, he didn't win the tournament...

He held up a carnation and threw it into the audience...

After bouncing off a couple of heads and hands, guess who ended up with it?

The battle ensued...

He didn't win, but he was still smiling...

Rooting for our knight...

Silly girl...

The kids were allowed to take pictures with their phones. The girls were looking at all the pictures they took...

After a few hours, it was finally time to head home. On the bus ride home, I was really proud of myself. I know it sounds silly, but when you battle anxiety, doing even the littlest things, like going on a field trip, feels like a big deal. This was one of my baby steps to getting better.

This will be an experience that Bri will always remember, and I'm grateful that I got to be a part of it.
