Brasstown Vacation - Day 1

We ventured out on a Thursday and headed toward the Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, GA for the weekend. We were looking forward to some quiet time and relaxation...

This stone turtle greeted us as we entered the resort...

Pretty entrance...

The lobby was so grand and rustic...

 Briana making herself comfortable...

Hallway to the elevator...

We had a nice standard room with a fireplace...

View from the room...

We were quite lucky to get a room there at all that weekend. We didn't realize that the resort is a huge wedding venue. There were three weddings scheduled for that weekend. Thursday was super quiet and then the hotel started filling up on Friday evening.

We had a very quiet dinner Thursday night...

Delicious steak...

Bread pudding...

Briana's huge mousse dessert. She barely made a dent in it...

We started walking around the resort after dinner and discovered a game room. My girl was in absolute heaven...

The grounds of the resort were so beautiful (no wonder people like to get married there)...

The sun started to set and it was time for us to turn in. We planned to visit Brasstown Bald Mountain the next day...

Brasstown Summer Vacation

Since Doug and I had gone on vacation to Rhode Island in June, and the three of us had visited Asheville during spring break in April, we really had no plans to vacation anywhere else during the summer.

But, Doug really wanted Bri to go on a vacation (other than at Gramma and Papa's) for summer break. I didn't want to venture too far, and I had seen several friends visit Brasstown Bald Mountain. I thought it might be a really pretty place to visit. We ended making reservations for a few days in July at the Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, GA near the mountain and it was so beautiful...

Pool time at the resort...

Beautiful views from the resort...

Over the next few posts, I'll talk a bit about our mini summer getaway.

4th of July (Recap)

Every year (on or around the 4th of July), Doug, Bri and I get together with our friends the A family and the B family for July 4th festivities. Luckily this year, we could actually celebrate together on the 4th. We all went to my friend Amy's house to enjoy her new pool.

The kids (and parents) had an absolute blast...

The kids swam for quite a while. When one of the girls finally exited the pool, she realized her toe was bleeding. When the other two got out, they realized their toes were bleeding too! They had been playing a game I believe, and I think they were continuously rubbing their feet on the side of the pool not knowing they were doing themselves harm.

We now called this "Poolside Bloodbath 2017." LOL! J/K! After a couple bandaids, all was good again. But holy moly that was crazy!

Me and my besties...

The kids enjoying movie time after swimming...

After swimming, eating and drinking white sangria, it was time for some firework/firecracker/sparkler fun...

I want to give my friend Amy and her family a big thank you for hosting such a fun evening. Great food, great company and lots of belly laughs. Can't wait to do it again next year!
