Lego KidsFest - A Lego lover's dream!!!

It was a wonderful way to end our great week!

Funny thing - we actually had not planned on going to this event. I know! Crazy, right? Doug asked me if I wanted to take Briana several weeks ago, but we were already completely booked for the weekend. Since we had been to the Lego Discovery Center earlier in the year, it wasn't going to crush us if we didn't go. A couple of days before KidsFest, my friend Ansu texted me asking if we were going to the show and I told her we were booked for the whole weekend. She went ahead and purchased tickets for her family.

Unfortunately on Friday, I found out that Bri's friend got sick (dislike) and our Saturday plans had to be canceled. So, I immediately asked Doug if he was up for Lego Kidsfest after all. I texted my friend Ansu and asked when they were going and if we could join them after all. In about 10 minutes, we had purchased tickets and made new plans for Saturday.

Bri was really excited to see what Lego KidsFest was all about...

Bri's friend Kira didn't know where we were going but she knew something cool was about to happen...

 We walked into the convention center and the first "people" we ran into were the characters from the Lego movie. Everything is awesome!!!!

We looked all around the Lego "Museum." It was so cool...

Then it was time to get busy and start hitting the different building sections.

We stopped at Mixels first...

Bri placed hers in the display case (bottom right corner)...

Lego Friends was next...

Next up, Disney princesses...

Star Wars was next!! It was awesome!!!

Creation Nation was cool. Kids were able design a building to go on the big map on the floor...

Briana and I worked on this creation...

Bri wanted it placed in Hawaii. I think she got the last slot on the Big Island...

Then we hit Lego Hero Factory...

Then it was time to race cars...

Last but not least, it was Lego mound time...

I've never seen a mound of Legos this big in my life!!!!

The show was so big that there were parts we just didn't have time to hit - Chima, Ninjago, City, etc. We did a whole lot though. If you are a Lego fan, check to see when this show hits your town. You won't be disappointed!!!

The Rest Of Our Week

Despite the very scary incident that we had on Tuesday, Bri and I really did have a nice week last week.

Monday marked the year anniversary of my grandmother's passing. Bri and I visited my grandparents' grave on Monday morning. It was the first time Briana had ever been there...

There's a pretty little gazebo on the grounds that Briana wanted to check out...

It was a sad but peaceful visit. I'm really glad we went.

On Tuesday, Briana had her first lesson of the summer with Ms. Cynde. We missed Ms. Cynde! Ms. Cynde was Briana's gymnastics coach several years ago and we started taking swim lessons with her. Briana dropped gymnastics, but we continued the swim lessons in the summer. Cynde was not able to offer lessons last summer, but she started again this summer. Bri was so happy to see her again. 

The only issue - it started to pour when we got to the pool. No thunder or lightning thank goodness, so the lesson went on as planned. Bri thought it was really awesome...

The reason we went to the mall that fateful Tuesday was because of the rain. I figured Bri could play on the indoor playground to get out some more energy. We grabbed lunch and then headed to the playground...

Play time at the indoor playground. It is kind of nice that Bri still likes to play there - even though it is geared more toward a younger audience...

After watching Briana play for quite a while, Robin and her dad came into the play area. Such a nice surprise...

The girls got to go on a train ride together...

We had such a nice morning/afternoon. I was sad that we had the awful incident right after we left Robin and David. We are counting our blessings though because Bri walked away unharmed.

 The next morning (Wednesday) B was all smiles and I was so grateful...

Another swim lesson with Ms. Cynde...

Then I took Bri straight over to her friend T's house and dropped her off so she and T could go swimming in T's grandma's pool. Bri had a blast...

Thursday, B's last swim lesson of the week...

And finally Friday arrived. We went over to my sister's neighborhood pool so Bri could swim with N1 and N2. It has the most awesome slide...

Despite the scary incident, it was a good week. I can't complain too much. My kid is still happy and smiling!
