Trip To Asheville, North Carolina

Briana had the entire week off for winter break (the week of President's Day) and we decided to take a short trip up to Asheville, NC. I have lived in GA for 30 years and I can't believe I had never visited Asheville. Now that I have, I will definitely go back again.

We stayed at the Grand Bohemian Hotel, visited Biltmore Estate, shopped at a fun toy store, climbed Chimney Rock, hiked to Hickory Nut Falls and definitely probably ate way too much yummy food. :)

I can definitely say winter break felt much more like spring break due to the spring-like temps.

My next few posts will be all about Asheville. Here are a couple of sneak peek photos...

Valentine's Day Recap

Valentine's Day sometimes gets a bit overshadowed in our house because it is a Hallmark holiday often lands right in the middle of Chinese New Year. This year though, CNY had already ended and Valentine's Day got the attention it deserved. :)

Two days before Valentine's Day, Bri wanted to make pretzel/chocolate treats...

Valentine's Day colored M&M's...

Briana was very happy the morning of Valentine's Day. She opened some goodies from Doug and me and Gramma and Papa.

Gramma got her this adorable panda...

Bri's Valentine's ensemble for school...

Mei was quite happy with her gift - tissue paper from the insides of our gift bags...

Doug was so sweet and gave me 2 t-shirts and a box of candy. Bri got a box of candy too...

He also sent me roses. What a guy...

He and I had a nice lunch out for two ~ sushi. This was my volcano roll. It is 100% messy but 100% delish...

That evening, Doug took his two girls out for a Valentine's Day dinner. We ate in an old mill that was converted into a restaurant...

There was singing entertainment...

Valentines...

My sweet girl...

A delicious cheese and crab dip...

Braised short ribs...

The food was really good.

I realized on Valentine's Day that Doug has been my valentine for 25 years. I'm a lucky girl..

You might be able to see in the above photos that Briana was looking a bit tired that evening. She started to wear down at the restaurant. That is very rare for her. She was coming down with a bad head cold. Bri hardly ever gets sick. It is almost unheard for her to stay home from school due to sickness. But, that's what happened the following day and the day after that...

We had to get Miss B well because our winter break was coming up (the week of President's Day). We had plans to visit Asheville, NC for a few days. Luckily, B felt good enough to go to school on Friday of that week to take a test and do a presentation that she needed to do.

We did go to Asheville and had a great time. More on that in my next few posts.

Warriors Cat 10th Birthday Party

Well, what can I say once again? Another amazing Chani party! My friend Kathy always outdoes herself!!

Bri's bestie Chani turned 10 and had a "Warriors" themed (it is a book series about cats) birthday party. Everything was cats, cats and more cats!

Paw prints led us inside...

Kathy had paws and tails ready for the guests...

My little kitty cat...

The decorations and food were once again amazing...

The birthday girl gave all her guests warrior names...

Briana was "Heatherpaw"...

They played "Moss Ball" (with green balloons)...

It was time to paint cat masks...

Getting ready to play a game that was "like cleaning a litter box" (hee, hee)...

The kids had to search for tootsie rolls in rice krispies blindfolded. The person that found the most tootsie rolls won.

Maisie going in...

Briana getting blindfolded...

Bri was very competitive. She found 12. Two other kids got 13 though and they had a tiebreaker...

Then they played musical towels...

Sweet girls...

The kids played a few more games and then it was time for cake. The kids "meowed" Happy Birthday. It was so cute.

A very happy birthday girl...

 Eating like cats...
