Last Days Of School - Fashion Show

I always like taking pictures of Briana on the last few days of school.

Here she is on her last full day of 2nd grade - which was a Wednesday (Thurs and Fri she got out of school early each day)...

Here she was on Thursday - which was class party day (and the day I left for FL)...

And I asked Doug to please take pictures of Bri on her last day of school for me. Which he did and he did a great job. :)

Last day of school...

And she managed to sneak in one last 2nd grade silly face...

Wish I could have been there for Bri's last day of school, but daddy did a great keeping her busy while I was gone. More on that to come... :)

1700th Post

This is my 1,700th post on "Life With Briana."

I cannot believe it.

Back in 2006, I wasn't even sure I wanted to start a blog in the first place. And here I am - 1700 posts in and almost 8 years later.

I'm not sure how many people still even read my little blog, but it is my little piece of the internet and I am happy to be here. Writing is very cathartic for me, so I'm going to stick around for a while longer.

There will probably come a time when Bri asks me to nix writing about her. Until that time comes, I'll be right here.

Spring Fling

You all might remember me saying a few posts back that Briana's school spring fling was also pushed back due to possible bad weather that never materialized. It was pushed to Tuesday evening the last week of school. Bri and I had originally planned on meeting Bri's school BFF "T" and her mom at the spring fling, but when plans changed, T's mom had to work. Doug and I picked T up instead from her grandparents' house and the girls still got spend spring fling together! And good news - the weather was perfect.

We stopped at the the petting zoo first because we missed it last year...

We found out that Bri's teacher Ms. H was going to be at the pie throwing booth to raise money for Relay for Life (it was really lots of whipped cream on a plate), and Bri wanted to do that for sure. :)

Bri's friend T got her good first...

Then Bri got her...

Bri got a little too much pleasure out of that...

Ms. H was such a great sport!!!!

Then the girls started hopping on rides and inflatables (I love that they chatted the whole time on the swing ride)...

Sugar them up...

Pretending to ride...

The girls wanted to do the photo booth. They got to dress in silly costumes...

Right before heading home, they wanted to do the dunking booth...

Bri and T's first grade teacher came out and the girls wanted to try to dunk her for sure. Briana didn't dunk her, but Mrs. C still wanted to give B a wet hug...

T got her though!!!!

After two hours, we finally headed out.

Unfortunately while we were heading home, I got the call about my grandmother passing.

The spring fling was super fun though despite what happened after. My parents waited a little while to call me - until right after it was over. It would have been hard news to hear while I was standing in the school parking lot.

2nd Grade Field Day

Briana's last day of school was on Friday, and I went out of town on Thursday to attend my grandmother's funeral. I was able to attend a couple of her class activities before I left.

Monday (the last week of school) was field day for the kindergartners, 1st graders and 2nd graders. It had been pushed back from the Thursday before because of rain and a very wet field. Unfortunately, it still rained over the weekend and Monday morning was pretty chilly - but the event went on a planned. The kids just shivered a bit...

Thank goodness the 2nd graders didn't hit the water events first. They got to start with the tug of war (the 2nd grade classes were competitors)...

They tried so hard, but B's class lost three times in a row. They were just outnumbered in the strength department (we were short a few kids too)...

Bri was still smiling though...

Then they decided to do girls against boys in the same class...

Girls won and they were so excited (disclaimer - there are more girls than boys in B's class. :D )...

Then it was time to move on to the other events. The kids had to wait a few minutes, so they found ways to pass time...

It was time for sports relays (now it was just Briana competing against her own classmates). Briana was in her element for the soccer ones...

Then is was racing relays...

Briana is a pretty fast runner...

Photo opp time!!!!

The 2nd graders hit the water events/relays last. It was still chilly but better than first thing that morning.

Below is a picture of the wet sponge musical chairs. The kids walked around the circle and hoped a wet sponge didn't land on the chair that they were about to sit on or their bottoms would get wet! Here they are listening to the directions...

Bri got the wet sponge. She got a pretty big kick out of it...

Showing her wet bottom to her classmates...

Another water relay...

Unfortunately, I really needed to get going after that. So, I didn't get to watch the rest of the events (there were just a couple more). I had some errands to run and I had already been watching for a couple of hours!

Briana got in the car that afternoon without her socks on because her socks were totally soaked after all the water events.

She had a blast - like always.

Field day rocks!
