Last Week Of 3rd Grade

Bri's last week at school was a busy one! It was pretty fun-filled one too. The teachers kept the week pretty low key - they had the kids do fun, easy type stuff. They had science experiment day, rewards day and bubble day. Bri was in a great mood all week of course. ;) 

 I signed off on Bri's school IEP on Tuesday. She is officially done with speech! IEP free! I'm so proud of her and so happy for her. She's done amazing and she sounds great. She's pretty happy too...

Tuesday afternoon as I waited in car line, the sky opened up. Thunder and lightning everywhere. The school ended up releasing the kids about a half an hour late because of it. It was pretty scary out there...

Briana brought home 10 pounds of papers and school items that I now have to sort through. What to keep and what to chunk? She brought home her project that she did on Colorado - where Aunt Ann and Uncle Wes live (that's a keeper for sure)... 

Bri also had soccer academy tryouts last week. They were supposed to be held on Tues, Wed and Thurs but they got pushed to Wed, Thurs and Fri due to the thunderstorms on Tuesday evening.

It was sunny on Day 1...

And quite rainy on Day 2...

And finally sunny again on Day 3...

Two amazing players...

Briana and her U8 teammate Hope tried out together. Unfortunately, not enough girls showed up to form a U9 team. Fortunately though, Bri and Hope are very ready for U10 ~ they are total rock stars. And Bri had already practiced a couple of times with the rising U9 (now U10) girls and kept up like a champ, so we kind of already knew she was ready.

Bri and Hope have officially been invited to join U10 academy team. So, so, so proud of these girls. We are all still thinking on it because accepting is a pretty big commitment. Stayed tuned for an official announcement (either way). :)

I am so proud of my gal for going to school last week (most of the counties around us were out of school last week) and doing tryouts too.

Bri also had her very last day of school on Friday (with school party)...

Memorial Day Get Together

First and foremost, we spent Memorial Day thinking about all of those who lost their lives fighting for our country...

We had Gramma and Papa over on Memorial Day for a BBQ lunch. Doug smoked his delicious pork chops. He really outdid himself this time ~ they were phenomenal.

Gramma brought Bri this cute flag headband...

Briana and Gramma were playing a game that Briana created with her kid-sitter Payton. Bri was showing Gramma how to play it and Mei Mei decided to play as well - heh...

Gramma and Papa stayed a few hours and then headed home. As soon as they left, Doug heard the Kona Ice truck music.

It was a nice, relaxing Memorial Day with family. The perfect kind of day.

Roller Skatin'

On the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, Briana was invited to her friend Meredith's 9th birthday party at Sparkles.

B looked so adorable and was ready for some fun...

Bri had not skated in a couple of years, so she was a bit nervous and I was nervous for her. She started off slowly, but then she got the hang of it again...

I rented Bri a "trainer" just in case she felt she needed it. She took a couple of laps around the rink with it and then said she didn't need it...

 Here she is totally getting the hang of it...

 After skating for a while, it was time to stop and eat pizza and cake...

Then it was laser tag time...

The music in the room was blaring, but the kids had a blast shooting each other. Briana busted it running - twice. Heh...

It was time to head home (and everyone from the party had left), but Bri convinced me to let her play on the playground for a few minutes before we left...

I didn't realize parents have to pay an additional fee for a child to play on the playground. The guy monitoring the playground let me know and I told Bri that she couldn't play in there. He must have felt sorry for us or thought Bri was cute or something like that because he went ahead and let her play in there for a little while for free. It was very kind of him. :D

 What a fun party! Bri had so much fun. She was a little sore afterward though between trying to balance herself so much and falling on her tush a few times!
