These are a few pictures taken of Briana at the CNY celebration last weekend. She was enjoying lo mein noodles. Let me tell ya, this girl can eat. I swear - I think she has a hollow leg. I don't know where all the food goes. I have had several people joke with me asking if I ever feed her because when she eats, she EATS. Gotta love a girl with a healthy appetite...
On January 30th, we will have had Briana in our arms for six months. Can you believe it has been six months? I can't. Kathy took these beautiful pictures of her today - thanks so much! Briana is our shiny, happy, little girl. She lights up a room with her smile and laughter. She is such a hoot. She is as wacky and crazy as Doug and me. We are a perfect fit. She is truly a gift.
Boy, it has been a busy weekend! Saturday, we met up with Kathy, Matt and Chani at the County Civic Center to celebrate the Chinese New Year with other FCCA families. There were a number of performances to watch - Chinese dance groups of different ages, Tae Kwon-Do students, etc. It was great because we ran into Cindy, Brent and their daughter Claire and also Ann, John and their daughter Katie. We all ate lunch together and had lots to catch up on. It was great fun!
Since I missed the last pottery making session, I made sure I was a part of this one! Lisa, Kathy, Trixie and I all met up for lunch at La Parilla (all the daddies were watching the kiddies) and then headed over to the pottery painting place to create works of art (well, we attempted to...). Actually, I was so impressed with the other girls because their pieces came out truly beautiful. I, on the other hand, painted a plate that pretty much looks like a 3rd grader did it (the plate in my imagination is absolutely remarkable - LOL!). But I made it for Briana, so it is still special to me. I guess it is not too bad for my first time painting. It was so fun hanging out with the girls. After several hours of painting and fun conversation, we had to call it a day. It felt strange being without Briana for the afternoon, but it was nice to have an afternoon to myself.
Gosh I am tired. I am just worn out. Even though I am feeling better, my energy level is just zapped. Usually when Briana takes a nap in the afternoon, I am able to run around and get things done. All I want to do now is take a nap myself.
I am sure you all know by now that the great state of Georgia had snow. Stop the presses! Shout it from the rooftops! (Ok you northerners, stop laughing now.) To be honest, it was nice to see snow again, but it didn't last long and didn't really live up to all the hype. The snow on Wednesday evening had big thick flakes and accumulated quickly, but it was gone by morning because the snow turned into rain. The snow on Saturday at my house was just heavy flurry action. It accumulated a little and then quickly melted away. Even though there wasn't a ton of snow falling in my backyard, Briana loved every minute of it. Here are a few pics...

Briana, Doug and I are all "under the weather". Briana and I have colds and Doug had a procedure yesterday to remove that kidney stone I talked about a couple of months back (yep, he didn't pass it like we thought).

We did keep pretty busy while Doug was out of town. Sunday, we visited grandma the whole day (and my mom offered to watch Briana for a little while so I could go out and do some clothes shopping - which I hadn't done in a long time - NICE!). And yesterday, we visited Kathy and Chani. We had a great play date and went out to eat Mexican food for lunch. The girls did so well at the restaurant! Kathy and I actually got complimented by a group of people at another table that the girls were so good and so cute! :) It felt so surreal that Kathy and I were eating lunch together with our daughters. It was wonderful. I think about it and feel like tearing up! I didn't have my camera with me, but Kathy took a bunch of pics of the girls, so I will steal some from her soon!
Baby girl is 17 months old today! She is rockin' the shades.
And check out our new wheels! A black Infiniti FX35 - shweet!!! The transmission on Doug's Isuzu Rodeo crapped out right before Christmas, and we had to get it rebuilt. Ugh. The car was 11 years old, pretty shaky and it was time to go. So the day after New Year's, Doug traded in the old car and bought this baby! It is so nice!
The month of December was crazy busy for Doug, Briana and me. There were several occasions that I didn't get a chance to blog about last month, so I am going back a little now.
It's official - and it's ridiculous. Plain and simple. Only 5 days matched this month. I thought I was going to lose my mind when I waited 19 months for a referral. I can't even imagine what it is like for all you waiting now. Torture is probably the best word to describe it. Reasons need to be given as to why this is happening - why things are moving even slower than before. You all need answers. You deserve answers. No more speculation, no more excuses, no more lies. It is not fair and it is not right.
