It's springtime of the year again - the time of the year for bunnies, birds, baskets, eggs, warmer weather (at least in GA), flowers and lots and lots of pollen.
Spring means Easter time - and I of course decorated the house for the occasion...
We got together a little early this year for our annual Passover/Easter celebration at my parents' house.

You are never too old for an Easter egg hunt!!!
Bri still enjoys dyeing eggs (which makes me very happy)...
Spring means Easter basket time...
Easter evening, we enjoyed a delicious meal at The Melting Pot...
Spring also means spring break vacation. Since we had done a whirlwind vacation to NY in February and have a summer trip to Hawaii planned, we decided to just hang out at home for spring break this year. Bri did a lot of chilling and sleeping that week. I think all kids need that once in a while. Time to decompress. No real routine. Nothing scheduled.
We were thrilled that Bri's friend Meredith was home that week too.
She came over on Wednesday of that week to hang with Bri...
They volunteered at the local dog shelter together that evening...
Thursday of that week, we celebrated Gramma's birthday (a day early). My sister met up with us and we had a nice lunch and did a little shopping...
Saturday of that week, our family joined Meredith's family for a fun day at Six Flags. Doug and I hadn't been there since we were teenagers and it was Bri's first time! The weather was perfect that day! A little cloudy in the morning - but great!
Bri was so excited...
The Twisted Cyclone was the first roller coaster the girls hit and of course, it stopped right as they were about to get on. They had been waiting in line for about 20 minutes already.
These poor people were stuck on there for about ten minutes...
The girls waited it out for about 20 more minutes and the ride started back up and they got on and loved it.
They really loved the swings...
Taking a little break and figuring out where to head next...
Waiting in line to get on the Skyway...

Bri had so much fun at Six Flags. Unfortunately though, because it got so crowded in the afternoon and because we didn't have Flash Passes, there were a number of rides we had to skip due to long wait times. Next time, I'll get the pass for just B (I don't ride the crazy rides like her). And now that we know the flow of the park, we'll be able to pick and choose what to hit first. There is always a learning curve heading to a new place!
One person who loves springtime is Mei. She loves sunny windows, chirping birds and being able to sit in the screened porches more now (I had to clean off all the nasty pollen off the screened porches so we could actually enjoy them!)...
Doug worked on spreading new mulch and pine straw in our yard (over a couple of weekends). He also created a new rock bed around our plant/flower beds for better drainage in our front yard...
We also have a mama cardinal sitting on a nest in a tree that is directly in front of our dining room...

Bri and I actually visited the dog shelter a number of times this spring (Bri gets volunteer hours for Beta Club). We love all the dogs, but Briana has fallen especially hard for this little guy (see below). His name is Theo...
And look at these beautiful sunglasses! The wife of one of Doug's co-workers owns a sunglasses company and she gave me a pair while we were in NY. So nice! They are perfect for sunny spring days...
And we also went strawberry picking on a beautiful spring day (a separate post will come on that soon)...
So that has been our spring! It's been nice having a quiet spring where our weekends haven't been completely dominated by a busy soccer schedule - it definitely feels different! We just entered May, so that means our temps are getting a bit more summer-like now. Bri only has one more month of school left - woo hoo!! She finished her Milestones testing and she is on the home stretch to finishing 7th grade!
I cannot wait for summer break!!
